Its probably a Focus style your driving as said its very basic.

I like the Focus personally, never owned one but driven a few.
  • the focus is meant to be a good car, but it has become a bit boring. Looked at one for my brother in law and it seemed quite expensive too, unless ford give good discounts??

They're liked for the same reasons as all popular mid-market cars, only the Focus upped the game when it was released.
Known for good handling, wide range of engines, sturdy build, mid sized etc.

Most of the OP's complaints refer to what I call "tat": stereo controls, number of cup holders etc.

Have had two Zetecs here, over about 7 years. Main plus points for me are great handling (well the Zetecs at least) and reliability (have only ever had 1 mechanical fault in that time that needed taking to a garage to resolve).

I've had a couple of basic trim level Fords as courtesy cars over the years, I was never as happy with those as the cornering wasn't great (kind of important working in Milton Keynes), and the seats in those have been bearable at best.

I'm with the OP on the tiny mirrors on some recent models though.

My son had a 53 plate Focus zetec. There was nothing wrong with it (apart from the suspension he had changed which made it a very hard drive - but that was his fault, not a fault with the original) It was easy to drive, pretty economical, and reliable.

I wonder what car the OP drives that they consider so superior to a Focus? If its smaller than a mondeo it must be something similar.

Suzuki Grand Vitaria VVT+ bought new two years ago:)

It has nice seats (& a nice driving position) & steering wheel controls & the steering wheel is nice too.

    Guilty:o
But I don't like the driving position & seat either,

Sounds like the @OP's annoyed with the Focus because its not a Chelsea Tractor.

If you need an off road vehicle buy a proper one like a Land Rover defender. If you want a car then buy one!

How bad must they think the Focus is to post on a Forum. I was not overly impressed with the Ferrari Dino 246GT I used to have (too cramped but beautiful to look at!), however I didn't post on the Ferrari forums telling people about it, I just sold it.
I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling ;)

It's all a matter of preference. I'd rather a Focus to a 4x4 thing, mainly because I do like going round corners on twisty roads.

Just because something is popular, doesn't always mean its good. Eg, 1st gen iphones, acer laptops, Liverpool FC.
However, I've never driven a focus. I did once try a grand prix traffic light drag off on the A52 against a 1.6 focus in my old 1.6 lanos and it made me look stupid. So I can say with some certainty that they are nippy little !!!!!!s.

My father in law has had two (first one was written off when some idiot drove into him). He's been really pleased with them. When the first one was written off he had a Golf as a courtesy car and thought the build quality of the Focus was far better and I have to agree the two he's had have seemed very well screwed together. I'm not sure which models he's had but it wouldn't be the basic bottom of the range model.

Unfortunately I get horribly, horribly carsick in Focuses which is very annoying as my other half would like to have bought one. But I can't sit in one for more than a couple of miles before my stomach starts playing up. Very odd. Same thing happens in Mondeos.
