That old story about them tipping over going around corners, thats old ones;)0 -

When the first one was written off he had a Golf as a courtesy car and thought the build quality of the Focus was far better and I have to agree the two he's had have seemed very well screwed together. I'm not sure which models he's had but it wouldn't be the basic bottom of the range model.
Unfortunately I get horribly, horribly carsick in Focuses which is very annoying as my other half would like to have bought one. But I can't sit in one for more than a couple of miles before my stomach starts playing up. Very odd. Same thing happens in Mondeos.
My DH has a Galaxy & its lovely, my DD has a KA & its nice for a young girls first car, so its not a Ford thing.
I'm just so umimpressed with this Focus, The seat belt is really tight, its digging into my neck & squishing my boobs:o I have the seat pulled right forward (only 5.4) but I can't believe its not built to house bigger people than me, I think there must be some sort of setting that needs adjusting on it. It cuts into the side of my neck.
My DHs Galaxy is like sitting in an armchair:) Arm rests & all:)
I live in the country, so need full & main beam & I find dipping quite arkward.
I'm amazed at how much I dislike what is probably the most popular car in the UK.
I guess its a combo of it being just the basic model & I'm too used to mine:D0 -

If you need an off road vehicle buy a proper one like a Land Rover defender. If you want a car then buy one!.
Actually my money, my choice.
Lets not be too judgemental about the cars people buy anyway................
Did you feel you needed a few extra inches;):)Homersimpson wrote: »How bad must they think the Focus is to post on a Forum. I was not overly impressed with the Ferrari Dino 246GT I used to have (too cramped but beautiful to look at!), however I didn't post on the Ferrari forums telling people about it, I just sold it.0 -

Extra inches, nope, i'm quite happy with my free Daewoo! I have cars that I like and am not remotly bothered what others think of me or them, I had the Dino because it was a beautiful car to look at and at the moment I have a 1967 Mini 850 Automatic in the garage which is quite possibly the slowest car ever and is tiny but I think its great fun. By your logic I could probably go to a fancy dress party as a petrol pump with the mini......
Best of luck with your car and hope you get it back soon, as a word of advice look very carefully at the repair and where its been blended back to, i'm yet to see a bodyshop repair that you can't tell has been done. My Jag S-Type had a side put in it and I was able to give directlines bodyshop 20 faults from a 5 minute walkround. It usually hard masking lines, overspray or poor filling works/sinkage that are evident.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0 -

:rotfl:I really dislike low sports type cars, I feel like my bum is scraping the floor:eek:Homersimpson wrote: »Best of luck with your car and hope you get it back soon, as a word of advice look very carefully at the repair and where its been blended back to, i'm yet to see a bodyshop repair that you can't tell has been done. It will be delivered to my work & I'm pretty hopeless that that sort of thing. Won't they just change the panel & respray the panel they've changed?0 -

your vitara would tip before my focus would slide.
i remember i took an almost hairpin bend at over 50 mph on a country road and only then did it slide out,no warnings but it didn't tip ove. needless to say i stick to 40 mph round that bend now and its fine. my sister has a suzuki jimny and it can't do it at even 20 mph.
your vitara is a totally different car to the focus, the vitara is higher with much more body roll. and an obvious higher ride height.
i prefer the ride height in my transit compared to my focus, but my focus handles 10 times better than my transit....work permit granted!0 -
MrsE - I don't get what oyu are saying about the full beam/ dipping thing.
To memory, the controls were exactly the same as where they are on my Seat and my Audi.
Lights on with the knob on the right of the dash. Full beam etc with the right stick on the steering wheel. What is different/difficult on the model you've got?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
