My little dent in my car is being repaired.
The insurers put me in the 2 lt - 2.5 lt group, Mondeo to Medcedes.
Not wanting a long car I asked to be down graded, so I got a Focus.

I hate it:mad::mad::mad:

Tiny wing mirrors, cheap nasty steering wheel, no cd/radio controls on the steering wheel, horrible seats.

Why are they so popular:p

  • Because they're bigger than a Fiesta but smaller than a Mondeo?
  • sounds like you got a basic model. you did ask to be down graded.

they are popular because they are good value for money, cheap to buy, well built, cheap and easy to repair.
stereo controls on the steering wheel isn't really what steering wheels are for,is your stereo kept in the boot or something? having said that i have steering column controls in my focus, they came with the leather steering wheel and sport seats as standard in my model.

They ride well and handle well for a family car.

My FOCUS 10 YEAR OLD NEARLY 1.6lx (sorry caps on) came with stereo steering controls. I got them disabled as I refuse to pay a lot for a adaptor to get my Sont cd/mp3/usb player to work

I find it not bad car despite odd problem with Central locking and now damn back door opening when driving, parts are quite cheap

You'll have a hire car spec model - hardly fair to judge the range on that!
  • They are cheap, and are reasonably reliable up to around 10 years old, and are well proportioned and reasonably comfy. I personally cant stand driving them, but I can see the appeal.

I've had loads of cars over the years. I had a Focus a few years ago and loved it.

If I could have any car, I would seriously get one again. They are great value for money and it never once let me down ever.

It was good to drive, had lots of gadgets, had a big enough boot for my family of five and was zippy enough for the spec.

Sounds like you got the basic models, the one I have has leather steering wheel, sport style seats with changeable back support, stereo control on the driving column, bluetooth for mobile, never had a bit of bother with it, economical to run (1.8 tdxi 50 miles to the gallon) and insure, realitively cheap to service and all in all wouldn't change it to anything else. Never had anything else other than a ford and the focus is much easier to manouvere and park than the mondeo we used to have and much more room than the fiesta or even the previous model of the focus. Possibly try one of the more deluxe models before writing them off altogether as there is so much difference in the spec.

Ford always makes a super cheap version of each of its cars, with rubbish steering wheels, and no fancy bits like radio controls on the steering wheel (I even have that in my fiesta!)

Nobody buys them apart from fleet buyers and to lend out to the likes of you!

Try driving a model further up the range and you may like it better.
