  • Sel I'm sorry for your loss. I hope it helps to hear that lots of us are older than you so 31 certainly isn't too late. I had my 2nd baby at 31. Hopefully your impending birthday and nuptials will give you something else to focus on and you will fall pg without even noticing :D. Give some thought to what BWP said about changing midwives though, you don't want anything to take the shine off your next pregnancy.

Hope everyone is doing ok. After eventually getting AF she won't blinking leave now!! 11 days and counting :(.

  • Hi everyone

Just been crying reading some of the stories on here, I'm so emotional at the moment.

I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago. I was 5 weeks, i found out I was pregnant on the Thursday and miscarried a week later :( finding out I was pregnant was a shock and by the time I had got over the shock I miscarried.

My oh has been great I haven't told anyone else that I miscarried I just find it easier to not talk about it, but at the moment I feel so low and drained.
    :(

Hello and welcome - so sorry for your loss. A similar thing happened
to me last year. You'll be going through a whole range of emotions, please allow yourself time to feel however you want (& not how you think you should feel). We're here if you'd like to "talk".
  • Hi ladies, how are you all doing? Just wondered if anyone knew roughly how long it takes for the pregnancy hormones to go after a mc? My ERPC was two weeks ago yesterday, they told me to do a preg test once a week until I get a negative. Did a CB digi last Friday and this morning and they've both said preg 1-2 weeks. Hormones clearly going in the right direction though I guess.
  • Phoenix7 - It took weeks for my hormone levels to go down. Can't remember how many but at least the hospital checked through weekly blood tests rather then me having to do pg tests. That seems unnecessarily cruel to make you take tests that are saying Yes, you are pg when you're not.

BWP - thanks for the advice re changing mw. I'm under consultant care too so I'll just put up with her - at least I have someone who knows what they're doing. Can't be bothered with the hassle of changing mw. I only hope she's not there at the birth

Chuckie egg - huge hugs to you. You just have to deal with it in the best way for you, which might not be talking at the mo. I found tho that eventually I did have to talk as it didn't go away just because I was mentally sweeping it under the carpet.

My wife and I went through two miscarriages. The hardest thing about it was other people! Even those close to us were a shambles but it's not their fault as they didn't understand, but they certainly didn't help. My mum was the worst, bless her.

Best thing we (my wife and I) did was stick together, get even closer where possible and shut everybody out that just doesnt get it. Definitely made us stronger as a couple I think.

We're now expecting a boy in early January - stay strong and stick together is all I would say.

It took about 3 weeks for me to get a negative.

No one asked me to do it though, I just decided to myself as knew I wouldn't ovulate until after getting a negative & I was desperate to ttc again! It's extremely depressing getting positives when you know you're not pregnant so once a week is a good idea.

My NHS trust made a special back up rota for homebirths so that if my former MW was on duty there would be someone else available for me.

Hi, I'm confused, I though I posted here last night but now can't find it. I'm after some advice. It's been confirmed today I have a 'failing preganacy' have been bleeding for 7 days now and hormone levels have dropped since I was last checked on weds.

I'm booked in for a scan in 4th dec. I have bright red bleeding, not loads and some slight cramping. Cervix is still shut. I'm scared about what's to come, will I pass it before the scan in 10 days? Will I be in agony, will I be gushing blood?

Sorry for the questions. Guess I'm expecting some kind of dramatic labour episode and want to be prepared. Also nervous about work, they didn't know I was pg, I'm only 5 weeks, and for many reasons I don't want them to know so am going to try and keep mc to myself if poss, but will the pain and blood become unbearable? Guess I'm scared I'm going to end up sitting in a pool of blood in the middle of the office. Sorry if this seems like insensitive questions, I just honestly have no clue what to expect and the doctor wasnt very helpful. Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Dusty, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I mc in July at 7 weeks. I started spotting and cramping, although we saw a heartbeat on the scan it wasn't to be.

I continued to bleed and cramp and a scan a few days later showed that the sac had collapsed and meant a mc was confirmed. I was then offered a range of ways to deal with it - natural, medical and a small operation. Between us we have experience of all three, and there are some stories a few pages back.

I guess for you, a mc has not yet been confirmed? As otherwise I would have thought you would have been offered management options?

You have to choose what's right for you. I chose natural as I don't like hospital and I had what was like a very heavy period. There was one afternoon of quite bad pain but painkillers and a hot bath sorted me out.

I really needed time off work. Be kind to yourself as it is not an easy experience. I hope you can take some time without having to explain. Big hugs xxx
