  • Good morning all,
Unfortunately weigh in this morning showed that I have put on 1.3 lbs. I am disappointed as apart from one day when I snacked a lot as I didn´t have the chance to get a proper meal, I have been good. Anyway, I will just have to try even harder this week as I am determined to shift a few lbs this month.

Weigh in this morning and I have stayed the same - better than i was expecting! Back on track again today, I'm going to make use of my exercise bike and cross trainer this weekend. Unfortunatley Mr Bramble fell over when he was drunk on Wednesday and have possibly broken his ankle, so his health kick has been very short lived!

    samace83 and bramble1, good going!

I am doing better, no sweets at all at work so I can't have anything even though I want it. But the urge is slowly dissipating. I keep telling myself 'if you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got' i.e. I can't keep eating sweets and expect to lose weight as that is not what happens! I have to change my habits.

  • Tara747- I love sweet things, I could happily munch my way through a family bag of Malteesers without batting an eye. I tried to buy "fun" (pah!) sized bags hoping to eat less but then I just ate all the little bags instead!I just have to abstain completely from chocolate and it keeps me on the straight and narrow. At the moment I eat sweet oranges or grapes when I need my sweet fix.

1lb gone this month, 6 to go. I'm still thick with cold so can't taste much. Is it freaky that I had veggie chili for breakfast? - its the only thing I can taste!

Nah, ignore it, 1.3lbs extra one week to the next doesn't mean anything except may be you have a bit more fluid in you this time than last time. You can easily go a month "being good" with no measurable weight loss and in the longer term still be on the right trend.
Best not to "try too hard" and drop calories too low and then find it too difficult and then not keep it up.
  • does anyone know how long it takes for food to be turned into weight ? ie if i stuffed myself with a macdonalds one day will i gain weight by the next or does it take a week to filter through ?

As soon as you hold it in your hand ;)
... and if you eat it you can't (easily) put it down again so it will straight way have an effect on the scales.
OK being serious you mean how long does it take to be turned into fat?
Had a quick search and this sounded like the most plausible explanation of how it works.
    http://www.supplecity.com/articles/howcaloriesbecomefat.htm

I work on the philosophy that calories in - calories out = fat
Keeping in mind that calories out can happen with normal activity and your body adjusting metabolism and even body temperature a bit. So it's not very easy to get an accurate estimate of calories out.

So the answer seems to be, depending on whats going on in your blood and body and what you have eaten anywhere from a few minutes to say 24-48 hours.

Well done Sam that's brilliant!! :j

I'm still full of a cold today, had to put off a trip to the hairdresser's  cos i Feel so bad, although a couple of hours pampering sounds nice right now!

I jumped on my scales at home this morning just for a sneaky peak :o, and for once it looks like I might have a loss to report on monday ( that's if i can get through the weekend without falling off the wagon big time) they are alway's about 1/2 a stone more than I actually am and they were bang on 19st, so hopefully lost 2 -4lb.Still will have to wait and see! I'm taking DD to the cinema and Mc d's tomorrow and 3 of her friends as a birthday treat, so hopefully I will just have a drink and then have tea with OH later.....that's the plan anyway :rotfl:

    Have good day xx

I've lost a smidgen over 2lbs this week which I'm very very chuffed with given the naughtiness of last weekend :)
