Free 1Gb Ipod Nano when you open a citibank account

Just read the citibank page and it looks like the terms have changed since the original post. you now need to have your wages mandated to the new account and then use it regularly for 6 months. - sounds like they are onto us!!0

It says deposit that much money each month. SO i'm thinking ... deposit 1500, withdraw 1500 straight away. then re-deposit the same 1500 next month. etc. hassle tho =(0
-
it says 2 direct debits per month ... can i pay myself (another account) by direct debit, twice a month ?0
-
I was wondering the same. I could set up a standing order to transfer the money to another of my a/c's for me. They dont say it has to be for something in particular, could even be to my parents and they could give me the money back0

I got my bits to sign a couple of days ago. It says that to maintain the account you must either deposit a £20k salary each month or pay in £2k at the start if you have a £30k+ salary?? It also says though that you can have a £1k free overdraft as standard.
I'll phone them once I've signed...0 -
I've phoned. They say that you need to set up your salary payment to qualify for the ipod (regardless of whether or not you deposit £2000 at the start).I don't know how this affects self-employed folks.I wonder if they will honour the original terms for people who signed up before they changed them.0

After apparently being first accepted, I've now been rejected after credit scoring
Not sure whether I can be bothered to complain. Maybe I should have said I didn't want an overdraft?0 -
Just applied over the phone (I guess a bit more painless than over the internet).
Would like to just pay £1500 in, rather than change over my salary, but will check when details come in the post.
As for the direct debit/standing order, I think I will just set up two standing orders for a £1 each to one or more of my other bank accounts over the six months. Only need to worry about £12 over the six months then. Or better yet, set one as £1 and the other for the value of my salary for the two months.
From the internet, the cheapest I have seen the 1GB IPod Nano is about £100. Therefore it seems worth it as most other banks offer less for your salary. It is only for two months though.
I believe they have a pretty good savings account as well.
It would be interesting to keep this thread going so we can see who actually gets there IPod after the two months....:money:0 -
They rang me today (not quite sure why?) but when asked, I was told that it has to be your salary.
They did mention another free promotion they are doing at the moment, recommend a friend and get 6 free bottles of wine! (the friend can still get the IPod offer as well). Particularly if your wife partner earns over £1500 as well, you can each get an IPod and pretty merry whilst listening to it!!!!0 -
Watchout for this:
^ A Regular basis is defined as paying at least 2 Direct Debits or standing orders from your Citibank Sterling Current account per month over a period of six months upon receipt of your Citi bank card. We reserve the right to bill account holders for the retail price of an iPod Nano if minimum activity levels are not met.
Must be kept up for six months?
Also reading above post I think it can be a standing order not wages sent over.Help me to help you :santa2:0
