If what you say is correct shame
... but i must add that employers in the IT and engineering industries value degrees from brick and mortar establishments in greater stead.
Is it not possible to study part time at university on a Computer Science or engineering course?
Can get student loans at uni.... just a thought... and you know the 'degree' you will have will be worth the paper its wrote on.
i would do the uni thing but at the time studying at home seemed like a better idea, i was thinking of goin uni after this course and studying a higher degree course0 -
If you are interested, we are a training organisation offering programmes in plumbing and electrical career change. We are financially secure and our investors include major financial institutions. Yes this is promoting my company, but we are putting together training packages on a cost only basis to help out anyone stranded by these events and we are not looking to profit out of others' misfortune. No hard sell or anything - just maybe worth people taking a look. New Career Skills.0

hi,
I am currently doing the advanced web design course and on the second module, the compTIA one, with advent and i received the same email too about them going bust.
I have took out the finance with barclays partner finance, the 5 or 6 years fixed payment one. I was concerned too and so got in contact with barclays myself. I have confirmed what was posted on the bbc midlands site about them looking into finding a third party to provide us all with the training we are paying or have paid for. They stated that we will receive a letter within a week or so stating whether they have found someone else to provide the training or whether there are to be alternate arrangements.
I am some what p****d about this cause it was my way out of a dead job as i am sure it was for most of us.

just spoke to a very nice girl at consumer direct and basically its a waiting game like you all know...according to her if our agreement is not kept with the bank they will liable if the contract agreement is broken and should repay all of us who pay in monthly installments i dont think the same can be said for those who paid in full.
ill keep my eyes open if anything comes around and ill keep checking this forum if anyone here has anything to say.
To all my fellow friends in this forum who have been screwed, keep your chin up and i hope you get the desired outcome in regards to your training and all the money you have paid.

Oh puhleese - you lot are just as parasitical as this Advent bunch these poor people fell for.
Get into a 'lucrative' career as a plumber by learning at home with some hands-on training at one of your centres? Get real. I note you don't talk about examinations...why is that? Possibly because you just want to lift a few thousand pounds off niave punters in return for a training course you devise and probably some worthless certificate from your own centre??
Any adult wanting to retrain as a plumber needs to get C&G (generally 6189 Lvl 2) or NVQ. Even then they're going to find it hard to get in with a plumbing firm as I expect you know all too well. As for doing some hokey course and setting up in business for themselves....well all that's good for is keeping real plumbers in business whilst they go round fixing up the bodge jobs and mistakes the plastic plumbers make.
Now don't post about your training company again or I'll report you for spamming. Taking advantage of people who've already been suckered into one dead-end training company is disgusting.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Shame you think like that, but I don't think I would be able to convince you otherwise. Even if I lined up the hundreds of students who are now earning a good living as plumbers and electricians or if you bothered to look at the student satisfaction surveys we post every quarter on our web site. We have a few students who have not been satisfied with what we have done, but very few and there are always other sides to every story. But I don't think I'd convince you, and if I tried you'd probably report me for promoting my company (which I was quite open about). So much for free speech. No doubt you'll post a scathing reply. But I'd be happy to show you round.0

Sorry - forgot to say the exams are City and Guilds, BPEC (British Plumbers Employers Council). Water Regs, Unvented, Part P - all legit.0

student satisfaction surveys you say...? sorry but have you seen the !!!! the "newly qualified students" have wrote about advent? !!!! like that can be easily made to make people believe... im not saying i dont believe you but posting it in a forum full of people who just lost thousands isnt the best game plan.0
