I was stupid enough to sign up to a plumbing course with new career skills a short while later i lost my job and could not make any payments and got pestered by new career skills asking for payment and threatening court action it is then I started to find out more
The qualification offered is only the first step into becoming a plumber No plumbing company will touch you as they see you as a liability (information from plumbers forum) they also tell you there is a massive shortfall of plumbers in the UK this is also not true there is a massive shortfall of work for plumbers. I have tried to cancel it and been told that i will still owe all of the money. Also i question the the lending ethics of the company as i was passed for the loan even though I had been in debt management for 4 months does anyone know if I have a come back to them for irresponsible lending.
As far as I am concerned NEW CAREER SKILLS is a total stitch up and if you are thinking about going on a course with them take a good look around first there are organisation who can give you the experience and knowlege over a couple of weeks. Its a lot cheaper and a lot quicker,no qualification but the one given by NCS is not worth the paper its printed on anyway0 -

AS an ex tutor of one of these type of company's (I left of my own accord mainly for the reasons described on this and other web sites). My advice is to avoid all of them, you will not gain the practical skills and qualifications to join the industry. Go to evening school for a couple of years and also join a company as a labourer (plumbers mate).
Good luck all.0 -
Anyone heard any news lately? I assume the lawsuit is still ongoing, but I wish it would hurry up and give me my money back!0

I am trying to help my best mate to claim his £4750 loan (from Clydesdale Financial Services Limited) which he paid for this course in 2007, he was told by his personal Advent advisor Peter Moore. He was assured that he could do this course "In his own Time" and that "there were NO time restrictions in which he had to complete the course", he was still getting emails from advent right up until just before they went into liquidation/administration inviting him to attend workshops to help him with his A+ exam, yet since Advent went in to Liquidation/Administration, and we have tried to claim back his money (or continue the course with Computeach- who have taken over) we have now been informed that he only had 2 years from signing up to complete
We have since found this information in the VERY SMALL PRINT in the terms and conditions, but there was no way of reading all of that inofrmation whilst he was being pushed into signing up with the rep sitting in front of him in his living room, plus the rep told him there were NO time restrictions or complete by date. Has ANYONE else been given this false advice, please help, give me details, a statement etc, so that I can approach Clydesdale to show that this is genuine and that lots of people (as I suspect) have been mis informed and mis sold there computer courses with Advent. Thank you
