This is a genuine offer of Legal Representation, in case anyone is suspicious.
I have taken it from CAG( although CAG is not involved in the arrangements) as my son was an Advent IT student and has been on there.
If you can copy The above Notice and link it anywhere you know Advent/Barclays Partner Finance is being discussed then all Advent students should be informed and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The Notice has been posted on Facebook as well but if you guys know anywhere else that would be a great help to get the message across. You can win this you have a strong case and you have now excellent representation that will cost you all nothing.
The more names the more power to fight back and stop these
Training companies and their funders ripping people off.
Use the email above of Fuzzbutt
Thank You
Im new to web site and not advent student however my husband and I were on a training course with Property Professionals Partly funded on our credit cards and the rest on finance with Barclays Partner Finance .Property Professionals went into administration at the begining of February and we are in the same boat as a lot of Advent students Barclays have sourced another provider but their fees are condsiderably less than Property Professional fees but we have been told we have to honour the original amount.I find it very coincidental the Barclays withheld funding from Property Professionals as they did with Advent in fact apart from different company names the story is exactly the same We both feel that at has all been a scam and the only winners are Barclays. Please keep us posted on legal battle I sure that there are quite a few Property Professional students who would join the battle against Barclays.0 -
Hi bbq,
I have seen some posts on CAG about Property Professionals and someone asked yesterday about contacting the same legal team we're using for Advent/BPF. I gave them fuzzbutt's email. As liaison could pass on the query for them.
I hope you all get organised do you have a forum you are all together?
In the meantime after numerous letters to BPF and numerous generic replies I have now contacted the FOS and have declared the BPF account in Dispute.
This is a scandal what they've done to all the decent people wanting to get a good job to be thrust into all this stress and Debt there's also the Trade guys and the driving instructors and yourselves PP.
I am hoping out of it all there is a radical change in Private Training companies that will need to be regulated and stop this money making scheme between them and their funders. Because that's all it's been they were banking on trainees dropping out and being left with the debt. They are only interested in making massive profits.
Advent were reported to be boasting at Christmas they had a £35million turnover.
so according to them BPF pulled the plug January so what happened to all the money? (Answers on a postcard) the whole thing stinks.

I am a bit concerned they want you to give them a copy of your contract I would suggest you find out first if that's wise. Something not right about that. To keep you right.
If they bought Advent then your contract should be in there in their system. Better check with CAB for right way to deal with this.
Ok i went to the trading standards team at my local council, which did not help me much, very negative and even negligent in some cases, any way i will be going to my local cab team on monday, better quality of advice!
Trading standars turned round and told me that because my contract term, which is 2 years, from what i was told, has expired, but i never did any of the course due to a number of things ect,so i may be able to get them on unsatisfactory of goods and services and the fact the contract dose state on the pink form even if the company,or surpplier went in to adminastration i could sue and get my money back.
trading standars said i would have to prove that i had not done my course???will check with cab team first though.and my details are on computeaches system as well.
will keep you posted on progress:}0 -
I signed up with Advent in 2008 and it was financed with a loan arranged through Hitachi finance. I wrote to Hitachi a couple of weeks back regarding section 75 claim. today I have received my reply and basically they will be refunding money paid to them and cancelling any other outstanding finance. However, they are withholding the first years payments made which is £1583.28 as a "12 month usage fee". I only got as far as attending the first a+ workshop for various reasons so will still have nothing to show for that £1583.28.
Therefore, my question is can they apply this usage fee or should I write back, again asking for the full amount? They have given me a deadline of 30 April to accept the offer so I'm not sure if I should or not.
Thanks0 -
I was just wandering if this also applies with the skills centre who went bust and are also financed by BPF?0

Ok, so have been dealing with Paul Noble MD of barclays partner finance and he is also the one who choose computeach to take over the course on our behalf without our consent. He is the one who carried out credit chqs on computeach and to be honest I dont think Barclays have ther right to dictate who we choose to continue our studies with if any. I like many other students would simply like a refund.
I have written a letter today to him on the back of a letter he had sent me, which basically outlines im not going to get a refund, not good enough as far as im concerned (wonder where they got the cash to pay computeach me thinks, also how much cheaper is the course with them ie, what profit are barclays making from each of us students) . Well I think we should all start writing to mr noble and demand a full refund along with details and records that show computeach are the same or better than that of advent and also for details on how they paid computeach.
I know its a long shot but we all deserve a full refund, and we need to use every avenue possible to get at least that back. The address is below and would like to invite all students to write to him and see what happens!! something needs to be done!!!!

Just a thought, why not include in your letters that you had already researched Computeach prior to signing with Advent and decided not to proceed as the Advent offer was better?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I think from the sound of it the advice was unbiased but not what you wanted to hear :-(
If you have a written contract that says training for 2 years and you are currently out of this timescale, then it would be reasonable for a judge in the county court to ask for proof that the course had not been completed, would it not? Otherwise anyone who had an old contract who had successfully completed the course could make a claim.
If you are out of timescale anyway you might find a judge throws the case out on that point alone unless you can place the blame clearly on Advent.0 -

Yes had that idea too tried that and every consumer law we can find and they ignored all references and issues and replied with a generic letter either we are sourcing a new provider or we give you computeach end of.
Can I just add when I'm here that anyone that is receiving payment demands or have their account taken off hold you will need to write to BPF and put the account in Dispute
(You must state this clearly This Account Is Now In Dispute)As they have failed to provide a SUITABLE provider.
due to Computeach not being like for like. State reasons why. This will stop them reporting to CRA's and adding charges.
Contact Consumer Direct and CAB for immediate advice. That's if you don't want to accept computeach (who does?)0
