• I am currently paying for my CDL but have put complaints into FuzzButt and FOS. I called Barclays and asked to freeze my payments whilst this was all in dispute but they told me I would be breaking the terms of my contract etc etc etc.I spoke to Braclays and they basically told me that I couldnt and if I did it would affect my credit rating and they would take appropraite action

Has anyone else had any joy in freezing their payemnts whilst all this rubbish is going on?

I think from the sound of it the advice was unbiased but not what you wanted to hear :-(

If you have a written contract that says training for 2 years and you are currently out of this timescale, then it would be reasonable for a judge in the county court to ask for proof that the course had not been completed, would it not? Otherwise anyone who had an old contract who had successfully completed the course could make a claim.

If you are out of timescale anyway you might find a judge throws the case out on that point alone unless you can place the blame clearly on Advent.

ok i went to the cab team this monday past, its good news they think my case has merit and has refered me to the financial ombudsman, which incidentally every one who ever dose any kind of transaction is covered by these peeps, aka could get your money or course:~}will update again with contact details later on this week or at the weekend.

There are a number of clauses that state they can extend the course due to conditions the are out of either of our hands, them and us-so yes they can extend the course if they wanted to,as i never got my materials to begin with advent or computeach would have a hard time trying to explain why they took my £4750 off me and never trained me,before advent went bust-it will tell them on there sytems!!!

the consumer credit act 1974 may be worth looking up,even says it on my contract-can get my money back even if the surpplier went in to adminastration, you have 6 years to make a claim from signing the contract.

As for trading standars if they did there job right they would of done the same as the cab team-ended up reporting trading standars too.

so there is hope for all advent students:~}

will keep you posted.

so, who the fcuk do computeach think they are, apparently the course i was doing with advent has now finished/expired??? therefore am unable to cont studying with them unless I pay nearly £5k to them to study. Correct me if im wrong but the course I was doing was a distance learning programme and had no end date, computeach claim that it finished in apr 09 even tho was still receiving txt books from advent at the end of 2009 and beg of 2010!!

To say im getting annoyed with these idiots at computeach and barclays is an understatement, we all need to be able to get our money back and now!! This is probably of no use to anyone but need to rant or do something cause I feel like im going a bit crazy!!

Anywho, rant over lets get these fcukers for everthing they are worth!!
• Hi Guys, i'm not sure if any of you are in the same boat as me. I signed up September last year and got a loan through BPN (though I was refued first time round, advent really pushed for it). Was planning to stufdy for A+ and then move forward. My loan is like 6 grand or something and I have received my A+ book and thats it. Didnt go to any workshops or anything.
In January i called to try and cancel my course as i could not make the payments due to unemployment and they told me to speak to barclays, so i did and they said its nothing to do with them so i tried to call advent back and no answer. Within a couple of days i saw the direct debit had dropped off so i assumed it was cancelled and all was well.

Recieved the email saying they had gone bust and thought myself lucky that i got it sorted. I was getting letters from barclays saying my accuont was overdue so i told them to freeze the account (even though as far as i was aware it was cancelled) Now i have been told i have to continue training with computeach and as far as i was aware i was all cancelled off so i'm not really sure what to do.

I'm not going to work in IT and I know Barclays still have the money so why shouls there be a problem re-cancelling?

Any help would br greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, just bumping this thread. Any updates on this situation? I'm not happy with the new course provider so I've just emailed Barclays, don't think they'll care about it tho. I've just sent an email to fuzzbutt about the class action lawsuit, am I too late?

I did that a while ago and never got a response from fuzzbutt, would also like an update on the situation too. Have a few email addresses and contact names at computeach and barclays tho if it helps anyone.
wthomson@barclayspartnerfinance.com she is customer care manager 0141 419 1005/
Paul Noble- managing director (who decided on all our behalves to go with computeach) doesnt like to respond to letters by all accounts tho. No email tho.
cheryl.cumberworth@computeach.co.uk not sure who she is but a contact at comupteach
Lucy.ireland@computeach.co.uk head of learner services
Think we should all call these idiots and get our money back asap.

have spoken to barclays again today for what they think is the final time, not likley...!!! lyndsey the ever so lovely rude excuse of a women has confirmed that they will no longer deal with me and have closed there compliant and adv I spk with financial ombudsman, this of which has been dine and waiting for a further response. Now someone needs to give me and all the other students a full refund. Financially it looks like comuteach are going the same way as advent did, my sources tell me that they are having issues with their shareholders funds and are looking like they will go down quite rapidly!! We all need to get some kind of legal action brought up against these idiots and now!! Any further suggestions welcome I will be meeting with my solicitor today for more info on what else we can do!! We all simply want a refund!!
