Advent Training Gone bust... what now??

I am seriously contemplating suicide over this. My partner called Barclays cos I can't use the phone (I'm deaf) and they wouldn't talk to him even though we sent a 'power of attorney' form 3 months ago. They do not reply to my emails, what the hell am I meant to do?
I do not want to carry on with the alternative provider cos they're !!!!, and I sure as hell am not paying a penny to Barclays. And to top it all of I have lost my job and there is no way I can pay anyway.
What do I do now?
First thing you do is calm down, it's only money. You're not going to get arrested or die or anything like that for not paying and just remember it could be worse.
When I phoned BPF they told me they can't reply to Emails for security reasons.
Maybe find out who the top person at BPF is and write a letter to them directly, explaining your situation and how it's affecting you. Go and see you GP too, if there is any legal action (either from you or from Barclays) your GP visits can be used as evidence.
You have to remember though that you signed a credit agreement and you are bound by the terms of that agreement. So your options are to negotiate within the T's and C's of the agreement or to prove they were unfair to begin with.
My T+C's say if the training material is inadequate or if the training provider fail to provide the training I can sue them, Barclays or both. I told Barclays that the training materials and the course were inadequate and they have failed to provide the training, Barclays told me they would find another training provider of equal quality to which I asked if that meant they were equally inadequate.
Also go and see your local CAB and speak to someone there, it's what they're for and they can help a lot more.
Good luck0 -
I'm due to pay 6 grand by 20th July. Shall I pay or wait for the outcome of the lawsuit?0

I think it’s about time that Barclays refund all students regarding the Advent fiasco, especially now that they have reported profits that are up 44% to £3.9bn. I only want a refund for the cost of the course I don’t think that is too much too ask. Everyone needs to phone them every day/week until we all get what is ours. This is getting silly!!!!

So barclays have now decided that they are so completely useless in doing their jobs that they have passed my complaint to the financial ombusman and now refuse to deal with me!! Its pathetic that a company as large as barclays dont have the balls to respond to emails or letters them self. I passed the complaint to the ombudsman months ago, still nothing from them!! I just want my money back, getting ever more annoyed!!!!0

Has anyone had an update on this? I referred my case to FO, but with no luck so far.
I took out the BPF loan last year (my wife signed for this) on the year deferred as the I was out of work and this seemed a good way to get back into employment. Within 5 months Advent are bust and I am told I still have to repay the debt. I had already spoken to Computeach and refused to sign with them, so I had no quibbles in telling this to BPF - as if they cared! They have now said that because the loan was signed for by my wife, clause 10.1.1 is null and void - Where does it say this? Has anyone had ANY joy in getting their money back from these two-faced b@$%^8ds?0 -
Same here I sent details to FO and they have told sorry we cannto do anything and that I have to agree to go with computeach. Any help out there. I may go back to citizen advice bureau...0

hi i took out the loan through BPF to do the plumbing course with access2trade, i went down the FOS route hoping they would help me to be told that Barclays were in the right, i really don't want to continue with the course as 1) i didnt even have the chance to start it before they went out of business and 2) then new provider OLCI is not promising the same that access did (promise of a job like said in one of the comments which is what drew me to the course originally) and its not 4 weeks intensive study its a couple of days scattered here and there (how am i expected to get all of these days off work?
really really stuck in a rut over this and now have debt collectors sending me letters, please someone help!!!0 -
Has anyone had any further news on this?
I was told by PKF that there was no money left for "creditors". Barclays dont want to know and the FO can't help as I paid in full using a career development loan which is covered under any sections.
Everyone seems to have gone quiet on this. Has everyone given up or has something happened that I don't know about?I work, I pay debts, I work some more and then pay more debts...give me a break! :money:0
