Hi - i'm after some advice please :) Today i was effectively offered a rather large promotion, going into an area with which i'm familiar and enjoy but meaning much more work and some additional stress. I've been quite lazy this year and have been focusing on enjoying my life rather than putting all my efforts into my work - as this has taken over my life until recently. The new post would mean a huge pay rise but would mean less time just enjoying life and chilling. It would also put me on a different level from my colleagues and i've been enjoying making new friends and having a better social life - this would no doubt be affected, especially as i was last through the door. I feel so, so chuffed to have this opportunity but don't know what to do?!! I've not felt particularly challenged in my current role, but the new role would definitely stretch me and at times put me well outside my comfort zone. It seems silly not to take it, as it would open up major opportunities and in the current climate, turning down extra money seems foolish...I know this is the only place where i can get impartial and sound advice... what do you think? Thank you x
How much are you enjoying your life without the work stress but also without any challenges? Do you think you'd be happy to go unchallenged in work for the next few years, or would you get bored?

I had a similar dilema a few years ago - but when I was really honest with myself, I was bored at work and just going through the motions, which didn't really make me that happy.

Put it another way - how would you feel if one of your colleagues who you're now friendly with took up the post instead of you if you decline it?
If you think you'll regret it - then I'd take the leap.

We have a winner! :T Yup, that's the clincher isn't it? If you look at whoever takes the job and think enviously "that could have been me" then it needs to be you. If you will look at them and think "thank goodness that's not me" then steer clear.

Go for EMminently - these opportunities don't come along every day - you never know what the future may hold - get on and upwards while you can! (And well done!)

Feeling a bit low at the moment. Still have this really carpy head cold! Just found out that the job I went for yesterday I did not get, they hired a chap. I guess I should have guessed when the office was all men lol, told me however that I was excellent and second to one customer service skills and thoughts,, yea yea yea, so then why not hire me? Went to the second interview a short while ago, drove 60+ miles to get to it for it to really only be an brief introduction meeting, was there less than 10 minutes but they are going to shortlist down to 6 and go from there.

I had a very good phone interview with a place in dundee and now have a pack of things to write up and fill out and have to her for Monday morning! That is looking a bit positive but all hinges on what I write over the weekend and submit to them. If they like it they are going to try and arrange an interview for me next friday when I am up that way anyway. The do sound amazing.

Sorry about the other jobs but this one does sound promising. Do you want to Pm the name of the company? I don't know MANY people in business in Dundee but I do know a few, in some different fields - JUST in case I might know someone in the company, or can give you any inside tips. ;) I understand if not. :) Good luck with your writing over the weekend.

Ooohh gimme half an hour and I'll send you one? Just wanna say goodbye to the OH (already feeling lonely and scared....:o) and then I'll send you the file and how to use it. It's pretty simple and I have one quite similar to the headers? Will give me something to do :)

Edit: Unless you need one sooner then that, in which case I'm sure someone here has links :)
