Hi everyone. Feel like I've been away for weeks, not just one day! Went on a trip to London yesterday with my sis to see the Queen - Queen stood us up, but we had a great time anyway
Been to Barnsley market today with mum - first time in years! Got a really nice jumper for the bargain price of £5 which my mum then bought for me - RESULT!!!
When I got back I logged on here and looked at my commitments list - whoops, far too much red on there. So I've hoovered through the downstairs, and just off upstairs to give that a quick run over. Then at least I can "green" one of them out. Two more posts on my blog since Saturday, so just one more to go and that's another item done.
I've been looking at your blog Nixi, and very impressed with your header. Saucy, can I be cheeky and ask for some help with mine? I've also created a new Twitter account so that I can tweet when I put a new post on - I feel embarassed doing it on my normal account or Facebook. I'm also trying to join as many cat Tweeters as I can in the hope that some of them will start to follow me too.
Hit a bit of a brick wall with wholesalers. The ones that sell the stuff I want sell it at prices that are more than I can get it for on ebay! Had some great advice from Julie Toots <thank you!!> so going to follow that up tomorrow. Fingers crossed I will get over the brick wall and start running again.
Big hugs to anyone feeling down - it has seemed like a very depressing month so far, hope it gets better for everyone.:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -
How can such a positive day turn into such a mess! Wine is off the menu Pah !!!!!! men! I am off to bed before I do something I regret. This could be my first valentines alone for a very long time, Kinda worried but feel I need to get out of this before it drags me down any futher. Sorry to post this here but it's either type or throw lappy at his head! Night peeps xTurn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 Member!Total so far = 0I dribble and I'm proud
Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.0 -
(This was all going to be on the previous post but I realised it was turning into a 3 pager!)
Em - a few years ago I'd have advised you to put yourself first and forget the money and the promotion. I've never played ball before and have been happy to move jobs when I got bored. But I seem to have got a bit of an ambitious head on in the last year at my current place and I'm starting to actually think about climbing the ladder. So from where I am at the moment, I'd say definitely go for it. The people you work with that you are worried about leaving behind or upsetting wouldn't think twice about taking a promotion, so don't be overly loyal. And you will still be the same person, so your social life will probably follow you.
Munchki - I feel so bad for you that you didn't get yesterday's job. But the Dundee one sounds fantastic. I have everything crossed for you (it's a nightmare getting up and down stairs) If things are getting really desperate, could you just take something a bit "below" you for now to allow you to find your dream job? Or will that make it harder?

Kids are just fab Em. If that's what you want don't put it off too long.
I like Jo's point about working out which job will be best for part-time work, after baby is born.
Personally, I didn't have a brain all through my pregnancy and I didn't get any sleep for the first year of my son's life. You of course may have a completely different experience LOL.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Em, I think there is an important distinction between your dream job and a very good opportunity. Don't know which this is for you.
I wouldn't turn it down out of fear that you won't cope with it and starting a family. If you'd love it and really want it I think you'd make it work.
I wouldn't accept it out of fear either - fear of not getting other opportunities or having enough money or not getting the recognition etc.
I would accept it in confidence if the job (rather than the ego boost, money or recognition) really excite you and you would absolutely love it.
I would turn it down with confidence If it doesn't excite you and you don't instinctively feel right about how it will fit with your dreams for your life.
Its not always easy to work out what is right and authentic for yourself but I tend to find that if you can and you feel clear and confident about it then things will work out to support it even if it doesn't always feel like it.“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Could I be really cheeky and ask for some help with my CV.
I have not been working due to illness for about 2 years but really want to try to get back to doing some local part-time work. Have seen a job doing admin at a local school which sounds ok. But it is about 10 years since I did a proper CV and just don't know where to start.
Thanks
PM me - I'll help out - it'd be good if you have a CV that I could re-work for you? Otherwise I can give you some pointers so you can create a draft copy and then we can work on it from there - this seems to be my new hobby :rotfl:Just £10,852.28p to go...
Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
And then do it.0 -
