Hi Suec-welcome to the thread :-)

Hales-weekly commitment done-sorted out and ordered promotional postcards for new collection! Do you have any time left to do your own commitments with all the time you spend updating ours?!!

Munchki-reckon someones telling you to move to Scotland now is that possible or do you need money for the move.?
  • Hi

Yes looked into it, you need to have a house inspection, which means you need stairgates cupboard locks, covers for plug sockets and a 3 day child first aid course.

In theory a good idea, but have noone to look after the kids for 3 days, so would need to pay for childcare to do that. Also, you are limited to the number of children in different age groups. I think you are only allowed to have 2 in your care under the age of 2, including your own, and mine fall into that one, so could only look after school aged children, meaning minimal hours before 9 and after 3, so it is not for me unfortunately.
Can you tell I have already tried that? Oh, and you also have to pay for a CRB check and membership to the childminding register.

Not dismissing it for everyone though. My mum did it when we started secondary school and used to juggle 9 different kids during the week, some for 2hrs week so mum could have a break and others full time. If anyone has school aged kids, it might be worth looking into.

A 3 day first aid course that seems a long one .In my area we do a paediatric first aid course which is 12 hours . We run them and we offer them on Saturdays. sorry it wouldn't work out for you . I have not actually been one just know I used to pay one a fortune.

I have a chance of buying a TomTom XL V2 with UK traffic for a reasonable (ish) price, anybody got any idea of their retail prices? Don't want to pay if there isn't a profit in it

Indie have you actually tried to do a search for this on google or anywhere?

Its such a specific item you're asking for, anyone here would have to do a google search to answer it for you - so seems easier to just do it yourself?

Munchki, sorry to hear about the job :( good wishes coming your way.

listed 3 items on ebay this morning and now the "picture server" is broken?? no idea what that means and how to fix it except its now scuppered my ebay listing plans grrrr

    Hi All

I am a bit of a lurker (ooh that doesn't sound quite right) anyway I am not officially joining the challenge just doing a bit here and there.

I have reading a few of your threads about trying to get work and having trouble with childcare costs. Have any of you thought of being a childminder it can be quite lucrative. If you contact your local council's early years department they can give you advice. I work for a company which trains people in childcare and we get lots of students which get burseries from the council to pay for their training etc. But you can start up without qualifications but I do know you have to comply with some rules but it might be worth looking at.

childcare is a good idea, however I am a school goverenor with special resposibility for curriculum. This gives me knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage part of the curriculum and this applies to children from birth. You need to not only look after the children, you need to teach them, monitor them and keep quite complicated records. If this is a career choice then fantastic I;'d say go for it, but if its an additional income then it is very time consuming to fit around your own kids too..... A lot of childminders have moved to other jobs since these new regs have come into force...

Childminding isn;t just loking after someone elses kids any more!

Blimey-I have trouble with English!! thats brilliant :-)

Trying to think of a genius idea for the new collection r.e. labelling the boxes. Wondering whether to upload my logo to Vistaprint in the middle of some plain business cards and then use them cut down to label the boxes? could use double sided sticky tape to stick an oblong with the logo on onto the top of my silver boxes-any thoughts?
