Also told me that I have to pay for half the crb check when I attend the interview and that they pay 16p a mile for driving from one client to the next but that I cant monitor my mileage that they decide how far it is regardless if it is right or not and that they tax that amount as well. Also stated that they gradually deduct uniform costs, well a small percentage of it. found out from someone who works there the only reason that she does is that she loves the work and it fits with her life howver she used to get about 20 a week for her mileage and now is lucky if she gets a fiver. all a bit mad and yes talk about taking the proverbial! I am supposed to go there tomorrow for an interview, dont think I shall be
I don't think it is legal for employers to tax you on your mileage - just a thought, perhaps for the future. I work for a county council and my mileage allowance is certainly not taxed.0 -
Right done as much as I can from work - I am a bit annoyed with myself as I have managed to leave tons of files at home. Also, I made the mistake of shooting my images in jpeg. Have to redo the shoot and take all the images in RAW! Anyhoo! I can't complain too much - I will get it done when I get in and then touch up the images tomorrow at work.
That seems like a good plan!

You are quite right I believe, when I used to get paid for mileage it was paid at 40p for the first 10k miles and then 20p for the remaining and it was never taxed and it was done on actual mileage! I did tell the person that works for them that they may want to have words with them and she said she has already asked about it and when she did they decided they were going to go back for the full year she has been there and tax all the mileage as they forgot!! !!!!!!?? I suggested she look up the rules just in case regarding mileage.....I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
Morning everyone...(Okay, I know it is 4pm, but it's morning because I've just woken up, okay?
)
Munchki, keep the faithI know its hard, I'm finding it hard too at the moment.
Got more trouble with uni and accommodation, and I think my anxiety is coming back. Need a GP's appointment but the bag at reception won't give me one because "I have too many and somebody else might need one". Because I love being poked and prodded and stuff....
Anyway, finished my articles yesterday, and now I've got one more and some crafting to do, and then Dooyoo, and then anything else with the realistic prospect of getting us some money.
Found a dream apartment...about a million for the year though, lol. OH found some nice shared rooms, he likes that option...me not so much, as I'll be home unless I can find a job, but hey ho. He's a bit more excited now.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Wow that was a lot to catch up on! Have been catching up on the last 3 days worth of posts.
I hope MMTWGR is OK, come back soon, we miss you!
Been working the last 3 days, so had no time to do matched betting or put anything new up on eBay, but 1 of my relisted items sold for £30 and I’ve just been paid for £10.50 for something which sold 2 weeks ago. Off to do some more ebaying now. Have to make my way through this bag, then going to spend the rest of the week working on my affiliate site.0 -
So both Bingo and MMTWGR have both mysteriously stopped posting on either threads
hmmmmm, I'm not tryingto start a rumour but does seem a coincidence!!! (Seriously I do hope MMTWGR is ok.)

Hi all
Thought I'd sneak in here, admittedly I haven't gone back through all the posts! ... last mileage I was paid on job was 20p/m I believe. It was done by noting my mileage before I left and at the end of the day (I did this personally)
If the mileage is done on a work related account (not including to and from work) then you personally shouldn't be taxed it... indeed if I was now traveling for work, I would be taking in fuel receipts with the increase! But the legal allowance is about 10,000miles at the higher rate (40p) and then 25p thereafter for personal cars... even as a passenger you are entitled to some payment. Also on bikes etc.
If you are driving a fair amount I would be inclined to bother them regarding a company car.
I would certainly be kicking up a stink! It is not on to expect you to lose money for their business!
