Hi all
) Money is slowely trickling in, keep meaning to list some things online but all week by the time I can get around to it its too late and with our system you have to pay more to choose end time so I keep putting it off a day.
Was going to count some bonus money but decided that to me that is not what this challenge is about, but man it would have made the tally look good! Have to make every cent from additional sources lol ...
Aiming to learn to crochet some accessorie type stuff in weekend, trying to build up the range for a craft fair type thing. Probably take me a year to get enough stuff lol ... and so it won't count for this 10k but for next years lol :rotfl:
Couldn't stop at one could we?;)

Well, already an eventful morning... I have to say that Roulette is addictive! I started off with a £2.50 win on Bingo Britain. And by playing roulette I got that figure up to £30. The greed got me so I placed a £5 bet and won and then it went a bit Pete Tong. I went all the way down to £1. I don't know quite how I did it but I am back up to £20 and fighting the urge not to play again and win back the £10 that I 'lost'. I completely get how people become addicted to gambling! eek!
Other than that got a client project for some graphic design so I am going to finish that off this morning and hopefully get paid asap. And finish off another little pet project that I have been working on.
Also looking into doing a mini wedding fair in London. I have a cheap and lovely location that I can use already. I am just not sure about getting traders and the marketing side. Any ideas much appreciated.10K 2010 challenge £3202.59/£10000

I'd totally go for it and tell them you have the required statistics and will wear the shoes, step in some food and send them if he buys them now for, I dunno, £25? :rotfl:...I SO don't get the shoe thing  but hey if they're going to buy somebody's shoes it might as well be yours...or you could just ignore them I guess...:rotfl:

I dont know much coz I've only done one wedding fair but there was a lady at that one who was doing her own and was touting for traders! I suppose it is just a case of visiting all the local wedding shops/jewellers/travel agents (honeymoon) and see if they're interested-also photographers ,cakemakers-internet search?
sorry not much help but good luck with it :-)0 -

dillidalli - not sure I am much help but I have done a couple of wedding fayres so can tell you what is important to me and why I choose them and a few random thoughts..... I am sure you know all this (waffle) but sometimes it can help seeing it from someone else.....
I want to know you are going to get people through the door...so are you going to advertise it/how often/where etc etc. I also would like the option of maybe being mentioned on any adverts?
I actually usually pick fayres run by local papers as they advertise, advertise and advertise some more and so get the numbers through. I also choose nice venues.....most people like to have the chance to be nosey at a venue, if they are spending on the venue then chances are they will spend elsewhere. Could you link with a venue and get them to host for free/cut of takings?
A bridal show always goes well and seems to attract visitors so can you fit in a 'catwalk' - could also use this this for accessories, eg not just for one business so a bridal gown, a jewelry, hairdressers, makeup etc etc....can they all link and work together? I always hate it if you see 'models' in gorgeous dresses with no hair and makeup done, and yet you have makeup and hairdressers in the room trying to sell themselves!! Such a waste of an opportuntity.
Refreshments.......always good for the visitors but really nice if you think about your exhibitors. This might seem mad, but if you are thinking of trying to run these regularly then a bit of good will can ensure repeat exhibitors....even if it is just a free coffee!
Making sure you offer details of all your exhibitors, booklet or just a well presented sheet of paper is always good. Brides like to collect brochures/info ect and may miss a stand at the show but will read when they get home. Make sure it is branded eg 'A Dillidalli Wedding Fayre'....so when you promote in the future you have started to build a good reputation.
Get the local papers involved. Try and find a unique thing to do on the day......a competition to win a dress/a cake/ ...the whole package maybe with a donation from each suppliers which you can then send a press release to your local paper and get free publicity....you should do a few weeks before, immediately before (call to action) and after to say how well it went, and also if you have a comp winner then get the comp winner in too!!
can't think of anymore for now......actually sounds good fun........
usre facebook/twitter etc too....set up an FB page - get all your suppliers mentioned/ to join.....etc etc. Not an expert on twitter but sure that could be used.......
Take names and details of all attendees and give this info to your exhibitors....so they have a database of leads to follow.....
Don't forget entertainment exhibitors I chatted to a fun casino guy at my last fayre and he said he had taken 4 deposits, and that was only an hour in! Oh and I know a guy who has just started an adult bouncy castle business....he did a show and put one up and let people have a go....he said it went down really well (but then he would lol!) I would love to have lots of hands on stuff......chance to have a ride in a horse and carriage, have a go on a bouncy castle, sample the food, sample the cake........try on some jewlery....could you have an area for people to try on dresses? Sorry going overboard...
Sorry for the waffle.... hopefully there are a couple of useful prompts! Got to go being hassled by a poorly 4 year old to read a Paddington Bear book
Can you tell I like your dea!!!!!!!Life is a work in progress0 -

Hello and dodgy-looking hugs to you...oh, where did the emoticon go? Feh.
The original rules say there are no rules, you can count anything including overtime and bonusesalthough if you can't put that money towards your total then you just can't I guess. Don't be disappointed if you think you won't make 10K, just aim as high as you can and you'll have succeeded and learned valuable lessons along the way. Anyway I'm already looking forward to next year's thread :rotfl:Would Etsy or something be easier than doing craft fairs by the way? Was talking to my sister-in-law last night and she said by the time you've factored in trave and time expenditure it's not that great, might it not be better to be earning in your sleep?
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0
