deq123 - was contemplating doing half kids clothes as other than Mothecare, there isn't really anywhere here for that either! rents i don't think will be that much here as you can buy a 3 bed house for £55,000, this if def not a high demand area as there aren't really any jobs to be had.

nixinixi- thanks, a poll would be good, but not long lived here so don't know anyone in the area to ask. Online is a good idea to test the water with, although I wouldn't have a clue how to go about getting the traffic onto it.

Right off to research, research, research!

Ok - is there disposable income in your area? if so great, if not.....then probably not a good idea.

Are you on Facebook? if so then you really only need to know a couple of local people, as if they know lots , if they are nice, they will forward it for you. I have sent my friend a message as it was Septmeberish and it would take me ages to go back that far..... will let you know when she gets back to me.

Well, I've finally totalled up my Ebay profit for January - £80.94 - not quite what I was hoping for - but more than I would have normally got without some inspiration from this thread!
Just dug out some boxes of ribbon, beads, buttons etc and am going to try to think of something creative to make and then try to sell it on Folksy - if I do actually make something I'll try to post a pic!

(But you've all got to promise not to laugh!)

  • nixi- disposable income is a hard one! anmost everyone here is unemployed, we hada job in the job centre website for baiting longlines with squid all day in a shed in winter for minimum wage and within 24 hours I had over 100 people apply begging for the work. But people will always spend money on their kids, christmas birthday etc, so was thinking that it would still work. Besides, only just learning what goes on here, despite there not being many jobs and biggest employer having gone into liquidation last month, everyone still has money???

deq123- yes 55k, but there is a reason for that! Think that is why most shops are converted front rooms, its like living in the dark ages! cable tv and broadband still hasn't arrived here! BUT shop rents should be pretty affordable, also as it is an old town, they are all 3 storeys high with flats, storage and possibilities to expand upwards should i need to

mummyandpaige - where about are you??if its anywhere near me feel free to add me and i'll pass it on to anyone in the area. What you often find is 'deprived' areas seem to have surplus cash because benefits pay housing costs and tax credits are very generous.

Nixi hope shoe bloke buys lots

ok i have lost track but whoever it was needing told to make the jump for 100% profit JUMP!!!. The person with jumper dresses, bigger order next time by the sounds or it

  • nixi - I am in Lowestoft (google it, you will find some shooking reviews), OH wanted to be a fisherman (think he was having a midlife crisis!) so we brought a boat and moved from Cambridge (i miss my home!) and ended up here for the pure reason, that moorings were very cheap and so were houses! God, love makes us do stupid things! So stuck here with no friends, OH is out on the boat all the time and don't drive! I need this challenge to work so I ca get a car and get out of here more often!

    Sheloveshimsomuch - PMing you now!
