I use Somerfield vouchers all the time at Tesco's & never have any probs-the vouchers in this months mag are particuarly good, got about £12 off a £40 shop this morning :j0 -
I get different responses from different checkout staff all the time. The last three times have been the following answers....
1. Only accept 1 coupon per transaction
2. Only accept 2 coupons per transaction
3. I'll take any as long as they work.
It so hit and miss0 -
I've always been able to use any amount of vouchers as long as I had purchased the product (never tried a voucher off a product I hadn't purchased) The last lot, I used about 6 vouchers."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

Last week i did a shop at my local tescos (plymouth) i had about £8 worth of coupons on me, but only planned to get a few bits. So I went to the self scan till my shopping totalled £20.19, Istarted to scan through the discount coupons at the end when i got to about £6 it started to bleep and an error came up saying something along the lines of maximum discount exceeded. The sales assitant came over and told me that the coupons were fine but you were only allowed to use upto a quarter of your total shopping bill. She put her code in and said not to use any more coupons.
This seems fair enough to me!0 -
Visited my local store after work today, I've had no problems redeeming vouchers off my shopping (even when not purchased the product) and, although I have experienced problems in the past, I carry round the email from Tesco in my purse and, after a discussion with a lady from personnel (who just happened to be on the shop floor) and the supervisor photocopied my email for her reference, my vouchers were accepted.
However, tonight was different completely. Really busy so I thought I'd have no probs but how wrong I was. Woman on till said she could only accept one voucher, asked cs woman (who was serving on till) who said I could not redeem any, so she called the manager. Showed the manager my email which says about stores accepting one brand name manufacturers coupon if I have not purchased the product. Manager read it and said this implied that if I had a Heinz baked bean voucher, I would only be able to redeem it if I had purchased another product by Heinz (spaghetti hoops or whatever).
Manager was really pleasant but I couldn't get him to understand what the email actually implied. Has anyone else experienced this!! I've emailed Head Office for clarification and I said I would come back to him with their reply. Has anyone else sought clarification on this from Head Office.
Thanks

I've been using internet coupons for a while now, together with clipped ones, but Tescos seem to be cracking down on the coupons printed out from the internet. I was stopped last week after using c. £4 of coupons (5 coupons, 4 of which were internet coupons I'd printed out) on a £85 shop at the self-scan tills. A supervisor and security guard stopped me just as I was about to leave to tell me that they thought they were photocopies. They were perfectly pleasant, but they obviously didn't believe me that they could be printed out from the internet and asked me to bring in the URLs (which are not shown on print outs of the Family Circle and Uncut pdf coupons) and speak to the duty manager if I wanted to use any more. From now on I'll stick to non-internet coupons and staffed tills as I really don't want to be stopped by security again - regardless of how pleasant they were, it was still embarassing.0

My large store near me has stopped accepting tokens unless you buy the product, however my nearest smaller store accepts tokens much more readily, it seems to be a case that the store or cashier makes it up as they go along.... it should be a 'Tesco' policy really rather than a single persons choice..... Not really the way to treat customers when they dont know what is acceptable and what is not????
okay so its not properly right that the tokens should be used against items that you havent bought but I am sure another customer has bought that item without a voucher so they can claim the money back, i personally shop at the store that accepts the vouchers as Pampers send good value vouchers up to £1 each, most of the time I use 3ish vouchers at a time but a couple of cashiers have told me I can use up to 10 vouchers without buying the product, as long as they arent two of the same vouchers??
Its in their benefit to let us get a couple of pounds discount in exchange for customer loyalty cos at the end of the day they can claim the money back from the manufacturers for the product being sold?? Okay, I do understand there are T&Cs with the vouchers that the retailer should abide by but this has boosted sales for stores and its not like 'most' people do this - only us MSE'ers and a few wise owls out ther

Today, I spent £31 on clothing and was able to use a £4, £5 and £6 voucher! I simply asked what would work, and the lovely SA said she'd try them all!
Then I purchased 2 Pampers active fit, used 1 £5 off pampers voucher and two £1 off, she accepted those as well! I am very pleased as I've said loads of money today."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
My store is ok and even better now we have self scans
I did have a problem at christmas i had about 7 Sainsburys vouchers to use each week £4 off £20 which i know Tesco accepted ,every week the person on the checkout would say in a cocky voice "This is Tecso sir not Sainsburys" in the end the supervisor had to be called even he didnt know they accepted Sainsburys vouchers, after the 3rd week i was getting a bit annoyed and sent a letter, it did the trick all the staff were told that Tesco do accept Sainsburys vouchers and ive had no problems since.0
