Discussion thread about Tesco voucher acceptance

I don't agree with all these people blaming some shoppers for spoiling it for everybody. Offering £9.00 of vouchers on a £10.00 shop is just that, an offer, it's up to the supermarket whether they accept it or not. I also read about them shutting down the self scan tills becase some had paid £100's of pounds in vouchers, well to me, same goes, they couldn't have lost out if the scanner didn't accept them. I can't get miffed with people that try and get one over on the supermarkets. And besides, most of the time they'll get the money back anyway. As for buying nappies then taking them back, that is customer services fault for not checking the receipt, that could happen with gift vouchers either becuase you're not allowed to exchange them for cash, so the staff need to check the receipt properly, that is tescos at fault, not the customer. Personally I don't think I would spend all the time I do trying to find vouchers and have all the anxiety as I go through the checkout if I didn't need to get as much off my shopping as possible, so I can't really understand why anyone else would (unless they don't have enuogh in their lives) I don't know about anyone else but don't some of you find the whole checkout/coupon thing panic inducing, I start feeling sick as soon as we set off, makes you wonder if it's really worth it. Plus all the hassle of if you're in town and you see something on offer, ummm shall I buy it, cos even if something's on bogof, sometimes you could still get it cheaper at tescos using your coupons. Of course it would make me worse off, but part of me would be glad if the supermarket said a definite no, or a definite 10% I could relax a bit, but after I got told £10% a couple of weeks in a row I started shopping at asda getting 1/3 off, but couldn't stand it because it was always in the back of my mind I could be getting more off at tesco if I just got a cashier who didn't know the policy, and since then I've been back to tescos every week, getting all my coupons accepted. It's definitely not definately!0

I just returned from Tescos today with OH, done a weekly shop of £120, only gave the cashier clubcard vouchers - with no money off vouchers.
Funny thing was, the aforementioned Supervisor decided to follow me around as I shopped, quite amusing as OH had a seperate trolley (we buy 36 pints of milk in one shop and had a few bulks things too) and he had to keep avoiding hitting her heels as she followed me around. She did not say anything but her presence was there. Then when a clubcard bonus voucher would not scan at the till despite buying the item and I took it to CS - she suddenly appeared.
I am bothered, nope I found a nice friendly Tesco closer to my office. Still haven't received a reply from Tesco HQ but if she continues to follow me around on every visit I will be taking it further. At the end of the day, it's a few bits of paper and I'm not going to stress about it or even give her another thought.

yorkshirepudding,
Fair enough cs are at fault the system is at fault, but why go through the hassle of buying something with vouchers only to go and get refunded. Surely these people could buy bread, milk, juice everyday essentials with the vouchers and keep the products. That is moneysaving on your shopping, money in your pocket for other things.
Customers have spoilt it at Peterborough and you will be annoyed if this happens at your store.
Just trying to warn people to use their vouchers wisely and be grateful.0 -
Hi I know what you are all saying, I get panicky using coupons now and only use low value ones, i tried a Nice n Easy one yesterday and the Self Scans at Asda are being watched more now as was told we only accept 10%0

Actually surfsister I may still do that - how do I find that information out ? I'm sure Ben500 could advise me if he is around ?
Funny thing is, we at last got the kitty that was very poorly who is now fine and we discovered he could not eat the food we have got that our other 2 kittens are eating so I had to go to Tescos today. To exchange the food in gravy for meaty cat food.
There was no nasty supervisor around and my regular lady was on the till, she took all my vouchers, including the Purina one which is BOGOF on Purina cat food - I only wanted the kitten type and they only had the small bag - so I got 2 of those, handed over assorted vouchers and my balance was 89p because the Purina one would have been more than that, I was instructed to get another 2 Purina dry kitten food bags. So ended up paying 89p and having 4 lots of kitty food when really I should have ended up with one to pay for and one free. The Purina one incidentally scanned at £4.99 at the till even though the voucher said up to the value of the item.
Anyway, it just highlights that my store, doesn't know what it is doing itself. Think I will go and draft that letter shortly thanks surfsister

Glad you had a better shop Welshy.
I shop in a Tesco's Extra and agree that it really does depend on the person who serves you. Last week I got 10% taken of my shopping and told that is all they were allowed to do. Today I bought a few bits total came to £14.73. Got out my big pile of vouchers out planning to hand over a couple when my one year old decided to try climbing out of the trolley so just handed them over and said can you take a couple. He scanned them all £9.34 off my bill £5.39 to pay.:j :j :j0 -
