FG, hope you had a good birthday, and a better train ride home. x
Hi Glam and Jack, hope you are both well.x

Fairydawn - Yay for Oscar being discharged :D

Weezl - I will be thinking of you today hun. And I am glad that I am not the only one who fights their interfering instincts to [STRIKE]stay sat on their bum [/STRIKE] try to encourage their child to be independant and to deal with lifes little ups and downs in their own little way.

I loved the bum shuffling story and the thought of little Fergie going to touch foreheads and being rejected made me well up :o

When I got to the CMs this morning Benjamin lunged at both the girls to give them kisses and then CM had piled up cushions on the floor (that Benjamin couldn't see over) and they were crawling round and round in circles chasing each other!! I wanted to stop and play!

    Quick questions for today:

Is there any reason why Leila shouldnt be eating Special K? She prefers it to weetabix.

I am ashamed to say that I have today let Leila watch cartoons (well, CBeebies) for the first time in her little life. I realised the other day that she's 8 months old and has never seen a children's programme. I feel like I have deprived her! So I can give her a crash course in children's programmes, what programmes do your little ones like? She's currently watching 'I can cook'!!

feelie & other almost-full-time-baby-wearers: I am very for the baby-wearing ethos and love my sling so far. My only stumbling block is what do you in situations where you know you'll need a place to put LO down or will need to faff with yourself/clothes? For instance: out to eat or to shops for clothes-buying? I've been taking the pram, which in itself isn't ideal - or is there another solution? Just curious, as I know there's some out there which don't even own a pram & am curious to what they do in situations like these.

Toby is bigger now and I put down on the floor and he stands against a chair or against my lap. He'll sit in a highchair or on my lap while eating out, although he is good at spilling drinks (as the ladies who went to Wagamama's will tell you!).

I've never been clothes shopping, but I'd just stand him on the floor. When sitting but not crawlling he'd sit on the floor too :o

On the journey home I had to put him down in Birmingham New Street station and off he dashed. He also climbed up a woman's leg in a restaurant not too long ago.

Others' probably think it is a bit gross letting him go on the floor, but I've never been adverse to a few germs.

    Good luck today Weezl.
Your little story gave me goosebumps and teary eyes too - bless little Fergie. :A
A while ago we were at my friends house and V was down on the floor playing with my friends two little ones, DD 10 weeks older than V and DS who's two. Everytime V chose a toy, one of the others would crawl over and take it from her. :( The same happened at Gymbabes for the first two weeks, but on her 3rd visit last week, she suddenly got some courage and took them back off them. :) Its just one of the lessons they have to learn, without stroppy mummy going over and butt in. :o

It doesn't get any easier either. 9 year old girls are particularly horrible and when it's L's turn to be left out of something, it breaks my heart. :(

V hasn't watched anything really, because the bigger two are mostly in charge of the remote control. :o But, we watched In the night garden on Friday and she was in a trance! I was worried it was sending subliminal messages to us because I was transfixed too! :rotfl:

Mr Tumble (Something Special) is a favorite too, but she's watched that as DS likes it for the signing.

    Morning all

hope today goes well weezl. bless that story about your son shuffling to the other boy. Omg I would be just like u and feel totally gutted for him. But u have made me think not to teach t with my reactions as I guess they should grow up all the stronger then, as I know I for one can be a bit oversensitive and take things to heart.

Glam, u have also made me think with ur post about jack sleeping better at nite if he sleeps more during day. I'm wondering now if t is the same. I usually worry when he sleeps too much but maybe I'll see if there is a pattern, be nice if there was hehe!!

    Xx

It's something to do with them being more relaxed when they go to bed because they aren't overtired. Jack was out pretty much as soon as I put him down last night and slept til 4am, dummy and back rub and he was off again til 6am when he came for cuddles in my bed. :D

He loves CDWM and gets very exicted over the food! He was also playing GTA on the PS3 the other night :rotfl:Hitting all the buttons and changing the view while Daddy was trying to play and then he decided to eat the controller, that didn't go down too well

Umm, I don't really put Henry down when I'm shopping- do you mean trying on clothes? I just tend to buy things then take them back if they don't fit, or go on my own when OH can have Henry. In restaurants or coffee shops I just put him down on the chair/table while I sort myself out. If it's a chair with a back he can sit quite well now, if not I just pop him on the table for a sec (he can't roll yet).

I don't have a problem carrying a few bags of shopping while H is in the sling. My changing bag has a nice long strap so I can just sling that across my body and it doesn't interfere with the sling.

Weezl- good luck for the ultrasound today. I hope they don't find any nasty DVTs.

Very interested to hear the giving up BF chat, as I have wondered how it works, although hopefully it's still a way off for us.
