31wks today. I was just so unprepared! :o I mean I knew it would be emotional, please don't think I'm ignorant. But I guess I thought it would be different to my births. But it was overwhelming. I felt the same rush that I had when I gave birth, was amazing. Ok, now I feel stoopid.

You didnt have time to be prepared !!
And dont feel stoopid. My mum said she cried more when Jasmine was born than she did with me and my sister !!

Tara I have nothing of use to say but didn't want to ignore you so Hi :kisses3:

I hope I get my girl next time but if I had a boy I would be fine, I might want to try a second time (so that would make 4 children) but I am under no illusions that I could then be a mum of 4 boys and I'm fine with that, 4 babies is my limit no matter what their gender or health is.
I always answer the gender qu with "I'd like a girl but as long as its not a puppy I'm happy!" :rotfl:

  • Tara, thinking of DD and DGD and sending get strong vibes.

Have spoken to hubby a few times now. The reason that he was in theatre so long is because it was a series of hernias rather than a single hernia so the surgeon wanted the students to have a look. The surgeon came around to see him and said that it had been a pretty major operation and that he is likely to be in for at least 5 days.

After not eating or drinking for 24 hours the ward finally gave him some soup and some jelly and ice-cream at about 6pm  how on earth is that supposed to touch the sides? They have also told him that he is not allowed to bring his own snacks in because of norovirus!!! !!!!!!?? Isn't he more likely to have brought it in on his person than on a bag of bl00dy watsits  I have told him in no uncertain terms that there is a bag of snacks in the bottom of his bag and he should eat whatever he wants to.

He opened his cards, complete with a photo of the 4 of us (thanks sami - that was inspired!!) and got very emotional :A

Benjamin keeps crying in his sleep :( I wish this tooth would come through, he has been grumpy for days and days now.

I'm here but not really here. Trying to do some of this ironing to make MIL keep her paws off it :o

I agree - I think it's ignorant. "Boy vs girl" and "unhealthy vs healthy" are not in the same league, imho  Just a touchy subject for me, obviously :o And, for the record, I never ever said "as long as it's healthy" despite having no idea of what was to come (purposely because my mum had a stillbirth at 36wks before me and I was already well aware the two questions are not in the same league).
I know what you mean. I wonder if the experiences of people close to you has an influence you by making you more concious of the fact that things can go wrong? I used to tell people that I wanted a baby and if they asked me if I knew which she was, I used to say, "It's definitely a human baby." Although I never particularly thought about it conciously at the time, on reflection I think that saying something like, "as long as it's healthy" would have been a huge insult to my brother (who suffered brain injury at birth) but I can understand that if someone doesn't have that experience of things going wrong for someone they know well then they might not be aware of the implications of what they are saying.

oh and because gender was a secret last time if anyone asked what I was having I'd say "A baby, I hope!" ;)
