    JAYDEN JUST CLAPPED HANDIES ...

    i actually have a little tear :o x

he must have been inspired by benjamin, v and daniel clapping yesterday
Tia, that's the first time I've heard about any limit on the time spent expressing while baby is on SCBU. They never cared about (or even took interest in) the expressing side of our equation, only the feeding side. As for 3- vs.4-hourly feeding, yes they put Andrew to a 4-hourly schedule before we left. It's a good question as to why?and one that I shall ask at the Parents Forum.

As for the original issue of a "Feeding group" as opposed to a "BF group", well at least it would be more accessible to people like me! I need to consider similar health issues to the BF mums (blocked ducts, mastitis, my own health) but then I also have issues similar to FF mums (bottles, teats, routine).

i should have said bottle feed rather than formula feed as i'm sure if i could have stayed on the same meds i would have continued to express.... so no doubt would have had the same concerns.

Em, I have no idea on cost but the zia folds very small and lies flat, I'm a big fan of cosatto buggies, mine lies flat but was one of the more expensive ones you'd need to check if the lower cost ones do. o'baby are a cheapy brand but no idea of quality :)

Ooh Boo your pram talk has reminded me, I've been meaning to ask for a while now - does anyone know of a cheap, bog standard umbrella fold buggy that lies flat? Now we arent using the car seat that goes with ours I want to get a little one that doesnt take up all the room in my boot and my living room, but it needs to lie flat so he can sleep in it while we're out. I'm not bothered how it runs, I dont really do a lot of walking!

Some good reductions in Argos at the moment -

    hiya,

In all the interesting debates of earlier, I forgot to share an important bit of fergie news.

The Dr has referred him to a paediatrician about his constipation.

Apologies to all who already know what it feels like to have specialist Doctors on the case with their little ones, I know this is small by comparison :)

I haven't told you guys this before but I soaked my boobs in warm salty water each day for a month before fergie came. I'd read that it toughens up the skin of the feet of long-distance walkers, so I thought it might be worth a try. But alas no joy there!

    xxx

Okay - serious bit first. Yup - appointments with non-gp medical peeps are very scary...I for one am very pleased that little Fergie is going to be looked at.

We have another paediatritian appointment in March because I bailed on the last one worrying that Benjamin would have lost weight again :o I know he is absolutely fine and any damage/injury that he was born with is now fine so there is absolutely no need for us to be still seeing the consultant. If you remember she asked to see us again because she couldn't discharge a baby that had lost weight (when he had been poorly) and then he was poorly again in the week before our last scheduled appointment in December and I bottled it. I was worried (irrationally) that they would have Social Services barring the doors and refusing to let us come home if he had lost weight again :o

And as for your nipples - as I typed my suggestion I was wondering if anyone had tried it!! It had to be you :p

    :A You are wonderful.

Yay for hand clapping :T I wonder if he was watching the older babies yesterday :D

Weezl, I may be in the minority. But I do find seeing a consultant reassuring as it's nice to be able to tick off all the worries I have. With LO's it always best to er on the side of caution. If something is ongoing it's always best to have it checked. Hope you don't have to wait to long. X

    Yeah Jayden, clever boy! X

Non yeah Maddy, who is now stuck AGAIN, under the coffe table!!!
Too many children, too little time!!!

Weezl - hugs for your appt. It may be small by comparison but its a big appointment for you and Fergie.

nope, only ever lactulose and now the referral *confused shruggy smiley* I thought they'd try those and also movicol first, but I guess we have to go along with what our GP says.

Sami I asked on freecycle for a new sophie for Edgar, but no replies yet :(
hmm I wonder what the pros n cons are *joins in the shrugging*
Bless you, you're so nice! Which reminds me I'm gonna call CS just in case and then must put things on ebay, I'll feel better about buying another if it doesn't cost me actual money IYSWIM

its been snowing for about 4hrs here now, how annoying! Gonna get sorted and go to mum's to pick up the boys washing because last night Ed had to sleep in a christmas sleep suit

I asked a few Dr friends and also PMd Kristal to see if I could have this 'done' surgically before giving birth so that I could feed Kester.

tbh I don't think I'd want to feed with completely desenstised nipples? I often get a clue that there's something wrong because it hurts. (After the beginning bit obviously) I wouldn't have realised that me and Herself had thrush if I hadn't been able to feel the pain. I hope that makes you feel better in some way.

As for the bf/ff debate, it's going to run and run. Bf is the biological norm, it just is. But in Western society breasts are so highly sexualised women are often made to feel bad for using them to feed their child. (Plus it can put women off from doing so in the first place.) But the government push breastfeeding so hard but then provide such woefully inadequate support and information that many women turn to formula when faced with a problem that they just can't solve. So everyone gets to feel bad. It's sad really isn't it.

And that's a small amount of my two penneth, I'll go back in my corner now... :D (please don't flame me btw I've debated for ages as to whether I should post this!)

I'm also lazy for not warming bottles to room temp, a chav for using purees, totally killing my children for weaning 'early'.... Here's good, we have a mixed range of parenting attitudes and usually manage to get by with simply saying agree to disagree and rarely resort to 'oh ma gawd, u is chav cos u is not doing wot ah doo!!'

    Chav :p;):grouphug:
I think you're an awesome mummy although if it turns out you have a chav spoon I might deny ever having said it.

i know its worrying having to see a paediatrician, hopefully they can get to the bottom of things (no pun intended)

and lol at soaking your boobs!!

    Bottom of things :rotfl:
Weezl I hope you get the answers you need, and I'm glad you get the opportunity to get them. I hope it sorts out Fergie's sluggish gut and you can both get on with things :)

MFD I think your husband and mine must have gone to the Radio Tuning School of Foreplay.

    Beenie!

Sami are you planning on replacing Ed's Sophie?
