I have often wondered if my easy time with BF is down to my hubbys over-exhuberance with my nipples pre-Benjamin. Were they already tougher than most?
Would it be worth suggesting that pregnant women try an intensive course of nipple tweaking and pulling in preparation?
A-hem
:rotfl: It might be so! Not in my case as they've never been the source of any...attention...in the bedroom (not due to the failings of DH but b/c it does nothing for me!)
Apparently some oldy-worldy MWs suggest you rough up your nipples with a washing cloth or similar beforehand. Youch!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Whilst on the subject of boobs, Keira is obsessed with mine. Paticularrly (im not even gonna correct that spelling) the nipples. She always trys to twist and pull them  and it flippin hurts, then I get her random babble that goes with it -
"Muuuuum, you have giant boobies but I only have little boobies cause Im a girrrrrl and your a lady and ladys have big boobies but little girrrrrls don't, they just have little boobies, and a bum and a foof, but boys don't have foofs they have willys *hehehehe*"
Her new one is "Muuum I want yellow hair" "But your hair is nice" "No but I want yellow hair so I can be like Cinderella" "Ok, well why don't you take Carolines yellow hair (the nursery nurse in nursery)" "But I can't! Because then Caroline will be a boy if she has no hair"
So, if you don't have hair, your a boy. That's the Keira'ism for today.
She wore her crown and took her wand to nursery today, she turned the bus driver into a Zebra :rotfl: Got on for free aswell BAHAHAA
"Hocus pocus bus driver, Imma turn you into a Zebra ZINNNNNG"
He said she was super cute, and I said oh 70p and he just shook his head and waved me on. How else can I exploit my daughter now hmmmm.
OH yes and I had some mums at the nursery gasping because I handed over £20 to pay for the next 10 weeks off nursery as I hate carrying coins in my bag, so I just pay a big chunk at once.
They embarrass me when they go on about how they can't pay that much at once, but it's the same over 10 weeks anyways, and It brings attention to me that I don't want. I just hate having to make sure I have £2 in change on me every Monday.
Plus the nursery prefer if you pay upfront so they can order in the snacks etc, they have to order the week before so it makes sense, to me anyways.0 -

Love this. Very good point!
GISI thanks for asking after me this morning. I'm ok, plodding on but still not seen HV and no even sure what to tell her
The bf'ing discussion... I can't answer what feelie wants because i do bf, but here are my reasons for bf'ing.
- It's free (this is my primary reason)
- It's easier (for me - given that i don't have an OH to share feeding with anyway)
- It worked. (i would not hesitate to go on FF if it was not easy, it's not fair on me, baby or my son if i'm unhappy because i'm hurting. There's been a couple of bad parts but i gave it a few days to pass, and it always did).
- Milder smelling nappies
- Would rather spend the money on fags and cider
:A
Can't remember what else i was going to post, i've been reading though.
Oh, my sink was draining slowly cos it's probably got allsorts of cereal and fat down there, so i unscrewed the ubend and broke it :rotfl: Plumber coming tomorrow. Meanwhile, i'm washing clothes by swapping 2 buckets when the machine drains.0 -
:rotfl: at keira bm shes a funny little girl
.. dont you love some mums i used to do that here when zoe was on school dinners id pay every 4 weeks when i got paid .. too many eyes watching my business x
Still searching .....:)

It is something I often wonder about, when thinking about how 'we' (everyone) can help mothers' to breastfeed.
I now know that most of what I was going through was totally normal and would have got better but as no one told me this at the time and there was no coverage of it ante-natally I felt like an awful mum who was failing her child and so turned to formula.
about your earlier question, I've heard some women say that they see breasts as purely sexual and the idea of letting baby feed from them freaks them out. A sign IMO of the poor state of our over sexualised society:(No - OH did.
She uses my scarf as a sling too. (Which sometimes results in disagreements as to who should have it when it's cold outside and I want to actually wear it as a scarf.)
Thanks - I do think that knowing what to expect will make it easier and am very  at all the info which claims it doesn't hurt unless the latch is wrong as it made the thing so much more stressful and distressing than it would have been otherwise. Her latch was actually fine - it was "just" soreness due to my nipples not being used to the intensity of activity on them.
would you like another scarf? I have many I don't use
I hate the pain thing too, I always tell the pg ladies that come to booby group that it's all lies but it gets better quickly0 -
I realisemy post may have been slightly aggressive so have edited to a milder version, seeing as feelie has already apologised and withdrawn... Although I suspect she still 'believes' what she wrote, I will try to say no more about it.
Mfd sorry you are having a down day:(Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
I always pay for a half term of school dinners on the first day back. No way I could remeber every week!Too many children, too little time!!!0

yes it is but I'm not sure what happens when there is no BFing and no syno-wotsit jab
Just catching up and still way back but just wanted to add to this that I delivered my placenta naturally (no jab) and at that point I hadn't done any BFing, for some reason it was really quick for me so there wasn't time to BF before it happened! Just cant remember if we cut the cord before the placenta came out or after - will have to ask OH- I had asked for delayed cord cutting and no jab if possible and the MW did read though my notes.
