I've got no problems in admitting that I make desisions that are best for me and my baby.
I have lots of reasons why I don't want to that I'll not write here because I'm not getting into having to justify myself to anyone
The main reason being I just don't want to!
BF for me isn't the be all and end all of being a Mummy. Its just not that important to me, I have 2 happy healthy children that have thrived on having a happy Mummy and formula :A
Hope you didn't think I was asking you to justify yourself - I'm just interested because no matter how many people I ask, no-one will ever say why they don't want to breastfeed! It interests me, probably because it is very different to what I feel, and I'd like to understand it more.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Can I admit (quietly) that I do not understand why some women do not even try to BF, even once, so they make the decision not to whilst pregnant. How can you know if you can, or are comfortable etc, if you haven't had a go? But then if you try it, even once and don't get on then bottle is best for both of you. I add that this is only my opinion, not a strong one, more a gentle one! X
And it is aimed at no-one, please don't take offence. XXXToo many children, too little time!!!

I'll have to keep an eye out in our TKMaxx - I only went in it for the first time a coulpe of weeks ago.boogellyboo wrote: »SS - Id say the snugglenest was worth it even though I didn't use it for very long. When Isla was still a dink it did stop me worrying so much. Very mse, I picked mine up in tk maxx for £14 five days before Isla was born. If I spot another I can pick it up for you and if you get to Manchester meet up?
I have to confess that I can't understand why someone would choose not to breastfeed (as opposed to trying and it not working out). It doesn't mean I think that someone who chooses not to is a bad person - I just don't understand their choice. It's like everything - people all make different choices and sometimes you can understand why someone would make a different choice and sometimes you can't. I'm sure a lot of my life/parenting choices are hard for other people to understand (e.g. how many people are thinking, "Why would you want a lotus birth?") but it doesn't mean they are judging me for them. (BTW I hope that doesn't sound like a rant at you - it's more a musing triggered by your post.)Feelie, I admire you for eventually getting there on the whole BF thing, and please dont take this the wrong way, but I think you are reading too much into this. I do remember you said yourself once that even you thought the reason you got there in the end was because of your addictive/compulsive personality, and what with growing up around it with your mother as a BF counseller, maybe you cant understand why people wouldnt want to BF or havent got as much determination to succeed as you did? This is honestly not meant with any intention of offending you.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

feelinggood wrote: »I was talking to my Mum about breastfeeding yesterday, and how funny it is that I'm so militant about breastfeeding. She never said 'Breast is best' or anything like that, but breastfeeding was always the norm - I saw hundreds of women feeding when my Mum was a La Leche Leader. I asked her about me becoming a LLL because of my lack of sympathy
and she said she sometimes found it frustrating. She said she tried not to pass on too much pro-breastfeeding attitude to me so I could make my own choices, but even so I'm pretty militant.
I'm also suprised at how much of a pro-breastfeeding and pro attachment parenting person OH has turned into. He is a complete convert!
It is such an emotive topic, but I like the fact that we are talking about it in a 'joined-up' way IYSWIM. I hate it being 'them' and 'us'.
Hope you didn't get offended at all by my post - that applies to everyone. xxBoobie groups- middle class in all sorts of ways excluding sandwich fillings MFD?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You do realise that most of the people here now don't have a clue what you are on about
At one of my Booby Clubs (the best one, where they gave us as much tea and coffee as you could drink, gave us lunch and a fantastic selection of fruit and had the best 2 Big Boobies in the world) they gave us Cheese-and-CornedBeef sandwiches one day  together on the same sandwich!!
Weezl - can I ask if you intend to try to BF again? I may have missed you already saying (and personally hope you don't, I hate the thought of you in pain).
If you do bottle feed - I like the idea of telling people that only you (and maybe hubby) can feed Kester for the first few weeks at least.
On a completely unrelated note, I just had a face-to-face stand up confrontation with one of the company managers that I work with where he went bright red in the face (even the whites of his eyes) and actually shook with anger . We were having a 'discussion' about his attitude and approach.
Sometimes I am glad I am a woman, as a man I don't think I would have walked out of there without black eyes and a bl00dy nose
Gotta love my job :Tplease listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

It wasnt for me a decision based on 'I dont want to bf' it was 'I want to give a bottle'
Partly because I wanted Chris to share responsibility for feeding, that I was going back to work very quickly and most importantly, sorry for how this sounds, I really really really didnt like the idea of BF. Never have and even after expressing for Dylan, still wouldnt decide to do it even if I had another baby.
I dont think any one thing would change that either, its just not something I feel I have to do to give my kids the best in life !!The two best things I have done with my life

And on another completely unrelated note ...
I've just had a letter inviting me to be on the Parent Forum for our NICU! Apparently they need ideas on many things, not least of which is what to spend some charity money on, to make the unit more family-friendly.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
