When I think of an engagement ring I think of 1 stone. The 3 stones would be a wedding ring. And £2k! Wow. That's half of my wedding
Good luck with the proposal.
BTW my ring was £159 from HSamuel: http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/detail/R/5187311/ (then again this one probably isn't to anyone else's tastes)
oooh that ring is lovely - thats more to my taste ans something i would wear. Shame i already have an engagement ring.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
My engagement ring cost nothing - well it didn't cost my boyfriend anything as his mum gave it to him, it used to belong to his great aunt who had the same name as me, it's very unusual as it has two stones and although i wouldn't have chosen it (mainly because i've never seen one like it) it's far nicer than anything i could have justified spending lots of money on!0

The one thing I'd say is if they offer an insurance option it's worth doing - we only took ours as the band on my ring is very fine and I've a history of round rings becoming ovals - all was fine for 2 years till we were moving house, cooker we were carrying tipped trapping my hand between it and the garden fence - bam oval ring and some of the claw fittings pointing up so they were scratchy (big issue when I work with kids). The insurance had it in, everything fixed and a replate of the white gold and back out to me as good as new within a fortnight - fantastic service so well worth taking out.
Dizzy where did you get your insurance from? I'm looking at some for my ring but it's all house insurance.

Yes, we all have different tastes! I love the OPs ring (mine is platinum with 15 diamonds- 1 big, 14 small and I LOVE IT!). It is rather beautiful to me. I'd never have your ring I'm afraid- no offence! Hence why I had to drop plenty of hints!
In my mind a wedding ring has no diamonds on it- just a plain band, so it shows how times have changed and opinions differ eh?0 -
oh no maybe I chose the wrong one! :santa2:0

lol - personally I wouldn't have the OP's one - it is beautiful but I couldn't justify that amount of money for something to go on my finger.
I think mine was alot less and it is absolutly gorgeous - more than I would ever have dreamt of spending but suits me down to the ground. Although as I have discovered recently my taste is probably not as materialist as others.
Having said that, if it was one of the 3 you were suggested too I'm sure she'll love it. Good luck! (How are you proposing?)Bump due 22nd September0 -
2k on a engagement ring? That's just crazy IMHO. All so she can ponce about showing it off to everyone.
I have a theory about flashy weddings and rings. The Wedding failure % is directly proportional to the cost. i.e. The more flashy and over the top it is, the higher the chance of the marriage failing.0 -
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

It should be about committing to the one you love, not some crass status symbol.
I'm glad I'm not marrying you- no offence!
I think the cheap(er) ring looks lovely.0 -
