Cant decide what to spend on engagement ring

Go with the best you can seriously afford but don't break the bank. You need to be sensible about how much you can spend without needing help on another forum LOLNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

DF is the same too will spend money on a ring but laughs when i suggest that amount for shoes.
Oh yes, a big obsession!! I (not so) secretly want a cream pair under my wedding dress:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
OH definitely loves it, have a choice of 3 and she has asked me to choose. Just need to decide what quality of diamonds. Budget isn't so relevant we have enough money my only fear is to look back and wish I'd bought the better ring.
Platinum without a doubt, and then the cut which sparkles the most
My DF bought my ring - not the one I'd chosen & shown him, but the much nicer & £700 more expensive one. His decision came down to choosing the most sparkly one!!0 -

Lovely ring
Was going to reccomend platinum as we paid the extra as I prefer the look. I have a beautiful white gold ring that my OH bought me when we started dating, but has started to go yellow now (after 4 years), which is the problem with white gold.
Platinum however goes grey, but isnt as noticable!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
my engagement ring was 50 quid0

Mine was £225, and it took me a long time to relax about having something THAT expensive on my finger (I'm not kind to rings).
The one thing I'd say is if they offer an insurance option it's worth doing - we only took ours as the band on my ring is very fine and I've a history of round rings becoming ovals - all was fine for 2 years till we were moving house, cooker we were carrying tipped trapping my hand between it and the garden fence - bam oval ring and some of the claw fittings pointing up so they were scratchy (big issue when I work with kids). The insurance had it in, everything fixed and a replate of the white gold and back out to me as good as new within a fortnight - fantastic service so well worth taking out.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Ok I've chosen and bought it. Even the credit card company phoned to ask if it was right
It's this one. Chose premium cut instead of hearts and arrows so I could do it in platinum and keep as close to £2k as possible.
Thanks everyone!
Sorry but that is definately not the ring I'd choose. Good job it's not for me
When I think of an engagement ring I think of 1 stone. The 3 stones would be a wedding ring. And £2k! Wow. That's half of my wedding
Good luck with the proposal.
BTW my ring was £159 from HSamuel: http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/detail/R/5187311/ (then again this one probably isn't to anyone else's tastes)
What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
