  • I'm planning a surprise break for my other half. He's big into Jazz and I was wondering if anyone had any advice as all the tours seem quite expensive! TIA

i just got back from NYC and flew out AA and back on BA. AA were, by FAR, superior to BA. The service, the food, the seats.. everything.

The only thing that is keeping me with BA is the bigger on board baggage allowance or i would definitely fly AA both ways.

I have a question- can anyone please recommend a hostel with private rooms and a sink in the room? i usually stay at one midtown but as i am staying for extended periods now i would like a sink as i realised not having one is a huge inconvenience.

Got back last week from a trip I won with work. 35 of us went.

Stayed at The Refinery in Midtown. Did a Central Park bike ride, went to Tao for a 5 course meal and then in to the Nightclub. Had good meals in Little Italy and in Brooklyn. Also went to the 1 hotel Rooftop in Brooklyn for an evening and the Crown rooftop on another evening. The best bit is I didn't pay a single penny.

HELP- so i am flying into Newark in Sept as i need to be in Philly for a wedding. I dont want to stopover on flights as i am an anxious flyer as it is so i am going to fly out to newark, stay in manhattan for the night and then get the bus up to philly- staying in Philly till after the wedding then getting an amtrak back to EWR.

Last time i was in nyc i got the Go airlink bus back to the airport (i usually get a cab from JFK to manhattan) and it was great. This time, i want to get the Go Airlink out. it will take me about 1.5 hours to get from the airport to the hostel i am staying at which is midtown.

Does anyone have any experience of Go Airlink leaving newark and how is it?

    Hi everyone
Traveling to NYC next week and was wondering a couple of things.
    A. Has anyone done a short cruise around the coast etc of NYC and if so which one did you choose
    B. Are there any casinos within NYC
    MANY THANKS
Oh and we have a spare day ( our travel partners are seeing relatives) so want to do some quirky things, and suggestions apart from the normal sightseeing stuff

Not sure if you class the Immigration Centre as quirky, but I found it surprisingly interesting, and one of the quieter attractions we went to, also loved mucking about in Grand Central Station and finding the arches where you speak into them ;) Chelsea Market was cool and finding the door to the You Tube HQ :D We went on a film tour coach, but also as we were walking about we recreated movies at certain points and took pictures :rotfl:

Think the magic for us were all the Christmas lights that were still up back in January and the snow storm was epic, just a shame we didn't get to do Roosevelt Island and see the ruin of the pox hospital, as we lost 2 days to illness (think it was food on our flight!).

have you booked a hotel ? where is it . If not stay in Brooklyn avoid around time squ . will be lots going on and transport will be mad so stay within a walk of your destination and hotel , If a family has youngsters TFIs are dotted around . More info would be better .
