your braver than me. we have got a quote for £880 for 5 nights in a king room with a view.

But, been offered the holiday inn on 26th for £575 for the same, trying to decide if the extra £305 is worth it.

Have a look at this thread, you may be able to get it cheaper.

For me, I would pay the extra - the two hotels are in very different leagues. But then I am travelling alone, so I'll perhaps spend more time in my room?
    Gone ... or have I?

Thanks, I had used that thread to get the prices ;)

First time we went we had a room with a view, which was amazing, really made me feel like we were in new york as soon as I opened my eyes. Second time hotel was lovely, but I couldn't cope with the times square location, I want to be a bit further away.

I am all over the shop at the moment.

For price I would stop at the HI on 26th, for something different I fancy the Belleclaire up on the UES. For the look of the hotel I quite fancy the Intercontinental you have booked. I am also considering the Affinia Manhattan and New Yorker.

    GAH!

Woohoo, I'm off to the US on Wednesday. 10 days in Texas followed by 3 days in NYC on the way back. I can't wait, so excited to be there finally. We've decided to stay out in Long Island for the first time as we are budgeting but we're only a few stops from Central Park so it should be ok.

Got a few ideas. TOTR, Ground Zero, Central Park, Statten Island Ferry for the SOL, Century 21 and other shopping and possibly a show one night. Just going to see what we can fit into a short space of time! :rotfl:

Sooooo excited now - only 10 sleeps to go until 8 of us go for our girlie 5 day trip to NY. We have planned what we are going to do, and realise that the best way to get around NY is by the Subway. We are staying near to Columbus Circle, so will probably use that stop a lot. What is the best thing to do regarding getting a pass for the Subway? We arrive on the Thursday, and leave on the Monday, so can we get a 5 day pass? or do you just get one every day? Thanks for any advice.:o

my trip to NYC is impending hurrah!

I was meant to go with BA but as I'm going for a friend's wedding and as there is no guarantee of my flight going (still showing as not decided!) I booked with Delta (I know about the bad reviews so I'm braced for the worst!) and moved my BA flights to next year as an early 30th birthday present to me :j

However I've been investigating my trip out to the wedding and the town is either Greenvale or Glenhead. I know I need to change at Jamaica but I know nothing about that station! How big is it? Will I get lost? Is it well signposted/lots of those tv screens with departures on it? Are there lots of staff around?
The trains to Greenvale/Glenhead are only every two hours and I don't want to miss the wedding!

I actually found Delta very good, no probs at all would fly with them again.
Jamacia station had staff to help when i was there ( In Dec) was quite a few around more so in the evening on the day I was there and police were there also. From what I remember but not sure if I am getting confused with a station in Washington?! you have to buy tickets from machine couldnt buy from a person on desk but am sure someone will help you with ticket machine if you need help with ticket choice.

I am currently looking to book to NYC in Oct. Usually book BA but best price at moment seems to be KLM. However, on looking at KLM website it would appear that plane will be operated by Delta. I am a little apprehensive as never used them before and they do not appear to have good reviews. Anyone used Delta to NYC and what did you think?
