Checking it out now! About as good a deal as you get to NY nowadays!
Thanks
I got CPH/JFK next August for £402 business class.
Anyway this will be our first trip to New York (we usually holiday in Vegas) is it true that you actually have to buy your alcoholic drinks there??:oThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
new to new York here, taking my partner for her 30th for 4 nights, wow theres a lot to plan, whats the best airport to travel to for manhattan ?0

For those interested, after nearly 7 years since they last operated, British Airways is restarting flights to NYC (JFK) from Gatwick from 01 May 2016.
It will be a daily service in a 3 class 777-200 (No First class). Timings are:
BA2273 Depart LGW 16:40, Arrive JFK 19:30
BA2272 Depart JFK 22:00, Arrive LGW 10:00 (next day)0 -
Right...... my hubbie and I are heading off to NYC for the first time, 4 week on Friday! We arrived on the Friday night at 6pm (JFK), and fly home at 8pm on the Monday. We have a nice central hotel (31st st, near the Empire State), but I'm starting to panic! So much to do, so little time! The original plan is to spend the Saturday sightseeing and the Sunday shopping, but I think we need an itinerary and it all seems so overwhelming.
Can anyone advise if we would be best to book a guided tour? And if so what one? Or should we do it ourselves? Is the hop on hop off bus worth it? I'm fairly confident with the subway in London so would be happy enough to use itt in NY.
Looking for peoples opinions on the top 3, 4 or 5 "must sees" while we are there, and a rough idea of how long each one will take?
And any shopping tips would be appreciated also. Not to fussed about visiting outlets as we go to California every year so can do that there.
Thank you!0 -

5 must sees thats a toughy why only 5?
Ok in no particular order
Grand central station, its got a great food hall too
Top of the rock, pref just before sunset so you can see the sun go down and manhattan light up
Central park
Staten island ferry to see the statue of liberty
Times square, esp at night
Shopping tips
If you go to macys go to the customer service point, opposite starbucks on floor 1.5 and get an out of towners discount card, take photo id card with you, they will give you a 10% discount card, same thing at bloomingdales too
If you must visit a&f dont go to the store on 5th ave as its mental make your way down to South seaport where the shop is usually pretty empty.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
thanks phatbear.
I'm not limiting myself to 5 attractions, just trying to get an idea of peoples favourites, so i can plan our trip from there!
So whats your opinion on the guided tours, and / or hop on / hop off buses?0 -
Personally i wouldnt do either but given you are there for a short time it may work for you.
My top tip, and i learnt this the hard way from my 1st trip when i spent hours wandering up and down manhattan, is.... Go on googlemaps and drop pins in everything you want to see and then you'll be able to do sights by section it will also give you an idea of distance and location of subways etc to places you want to be.
For example century 21 can be good for bargains, and its right across the street from the sight of the world trade centre a few minutes walk from wall street and south seaport so there ya go youve done a few things all in one area.
Oh another sight, thing to do, is walk the brooklyn bridge, pref from brooklyn to manhattanLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
great idea about the drop pins, i wouldn't have though of that, thank you.
yeah, i'm usually not one for guided tours, but as we're wanting to cram the majority of the sightseeing in to 1 day, i thought it might be a good idea.
thanks again, much appreciated.0
