Im thinking Arr your mums 82 then your talking helicopters . never done a chopper but I expect it to be good but expensive . Your righ on Grand central so use that for transport . Or a cab upto central Park . done the carrage and enjoyed it . There will be people saying how cruel the horses are kept . I expect this to be true but we never seen this and horses and driver were in good condition . again expensive . TKTS is the way to go . or find a show you like and book online to pick ticks from your hotel . Pick up from the theatre box office . a few options . times square is just around the corner / We stayed in the Hyatt 2009 . decent hotel good tourist location and easy to find . enjoy NYC & welcome to MSE

  • My friends and I are heading to New York 25/11 until 1/12. For anyone who has been at that time of year is the thanksgiving parade worth seeing? Is it difficult to do anything else like esb or totr because of the crowds? Debating going to Woodbury if that is the case just to be out of the way. The Friday is obviously Black Friday, how mad is it? What should I prepare for and are there good savings to be made? We mostly want clothes shoes cosmetics and sunglasses. My friend is talking about adding an extra suite to bring back a pushchair she has seen which works out cheaper over there? Any tips on good shops to go to for the best savings?
Also I would like to use my phone over there, is it best to buy a sim here or there that includes data and a small amount of calls, texts? Where is best to buy one? Thank you.

Hi, My Partner and I have booked a trip to new York mid January for my 30th birthday. We got a great deal on flights and are now looking at hotels. Does anyone know if its better to book a hotel now, well in advance, to get a good price? Or will we be more likely to get a good deal if we leave it til nearer the time to book somewhere. Thanks.

We're there 16th jan to 21st. Partner has been for a weekend but I've never been.
I've heard accommodation can be costly and I've found some mid range hotels for about £550 for the 6 nights scattered around Hell's Kitchen, mid town and upper west side

Like the worst, busiest days of sales ever!

Macy's in New York is bedlam, too.

Hell's kit and mid town are good areas to base yourself. Read reviews thoroughly including those on booking.com .

Consider 3 nights on Manhattan and 3 nights in Brooklyn or Jersey City.

Also consider Airbnb in Jersey City. Don't for the five boroughs that make up NY, it's illegal for short term rentals.

    Hi W4K,

We've saw the parade a couple of years ago, and we loved it. Thankfully the sun was out, although it was quite cold, so if you do, wrap up! People seems to turn up early for the best spots, so be prepared to be further back at the start. Although we still saw most of it. If it is worth it, I'd say so, but everyone is different:) Mind you, I guess most major sights will be pretty empty when the parade is on, so that is something to keep in mind. Either way, have a great trip!!
