My wife and I will be visiting NYC for a long weekend in a few weeks to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I've booked a few activities already but I would love to hear any suggestions about other things we could do that would be good for a romantic break.

    The current plan is:-

    Day 1
Morning - Top of the Rock
    Lunch at Central Park
Afternoon - Horse and Carriage ride around Central Park
Early Evening - "The Ride" tour (Converted coach/theatre thingy)

    Day 2
Morning/Lunch - Brunch yacht cruise around Manhatten
Afternoon - Nothing booked yet - maybe explore lower Manhatten
    Evening - Staten Island ferry

Day 3 (leaving for airport about 3pm)
Shopping - Probably Macy's. Any suggestions for better places to shop?

Anyone know how long it usually takes to get through immigration at JFK Airport late evening (9-10PM) on a weekday?

A lot of variables here. As mentioned above, the biggest risk is another flight coming in just before yours. That should be less likely late in the evening, and T7 has less airlines, but still a risk. After that it comes down to which cabin you are in, and how many CBP officers are on duty. Sit as far forward as you can in whichever cabin you are in, and overtake as many people as possible on the way from the aircraft to immigration...

A walk along the High Line is pretty cool if the weather is good, and you can finish it by visiting one or more of the bars and restaurants in the Meatpacking District, a very nice part of town and less touristic than Midtown.

Regarding shopping, really depends what you want to buy. Macy's is famous and nothing wrong with it, but it's a pretty standard department store in terms of what they actually sell.

Thanks, fingers crossed we get lucky with the timing then. We are travelling in First so hopefully that will help.

The High Line looks like it would be a nice place for a morning stroll on our last day. Not far from our Hotel too (IC Times Sq). Thanks

The shopping will be mostly for my wife really and she would like anywhere with nice clothes. :D

I looked at some reviews of Century 21 and some people were saying it gets way too busy to be enjoyable. Have you found this to be the case?

i haven't been to century 21 in a couple of years but i always found it a bit of a jumble sale and a tad hit and miss with their stock.

i still have a soft spot for macys and for anyone shopping there dont forget the 10% out of towners discount card, just take your passport to customer service and they will hook you up
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

It can get busy, depends when you get there of course. If you are going to spend some time exploring Lower Manhattan as you mentioned, you can pass by, Century 21 is close to the 9/11 Memorial.

Also in Lower Manhattan, an interesting place for a drink or a bite to eat is the Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog, a bar/restaurant in the 19th century Irish-American style, on Water Street not far from Battery Park .

I wasn't a great fan of C21 to be honest. A bit like a bad market . I picked up a pair of 501s and saw $50 .bargain I thought . Checked it over and once I put a zip / waistband and stitched the leg back on it wasn't really for me .
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
