  • Would definitely recommend booking if you want to do the crown, i looked while i was there in Sept & it was fully booked.

I'm going again in May & will be booking in advance.
What came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

It's a bit easier if you avoid weekends, when there are a lot more domestic tourists around. Been many years since I did it, so don't know how much prebooking is necessary, but unless it's pouring or stormy, weather shouldn't be a major issue for a visit to Liberty/Ellis Islands.

IIRC, the view from inside the crown isn't that amazing, but it's more the experience of doing it and I would still say it's worth it.

Thank you, think we will take the chance and book before we go.

I've been to New York many times, including the Statue, and every time I go I say 'next time I will go up the crown...' :rotfl::rotfl:

I wouldn't worry about the weather- we did the crown on a grey and rainy day in September (could barely see Manhattan from the SoL) and it was still fab

I am looking at going to the 9/11 museum the first week in February.

If you turn up on the day, are there long waiting lines?

    Or do people recommend pre-booing?
  • Has anyone used priceline for hotels there? i read good things.. im going in May.. i have a cancellable hotel (up to the night before) and i was going to try my luck and priceline the same price i have for a two star (about £100 a night.. might start slightly lowers) for a five star in times square or midtown as i like that area. Was going to do this the week before i leave.. is that a good time? Its for four nights midweek

All your comments will be very much appreciated!

    I'd pre-book.

There's also airport type security to go through.
