a good starting point is open up two screens on your computer one showing expedia and one with tripadvisor.
put the dates you want in expedia and then check the hotels on trip advisor.
if you do use expedia dont forget topcashback/quidco and nectar points.
i have no idea what your interests are, what kind of food you like, how mobile you are etc etc so i, or anyone else for that matter, cant really advise you on what to do when you are thereLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

well ive been in:
November for thanks giving and my 40th and it was soooooo cold the coldest ive ever been anywhere.
August, soooooooo hot the heat in the subway will take your breath away
May, was lovelly hot but not too hot.
A good time of year to go will often be defined by your finances there are expensive and not so expensive times to visit NYLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Spring (April-June) is pretty good, though may not be too warm in April, pot luck. As phatbear says, August (and maybe end July) usually very hot and humid, though you can get lucky.
Price wise, hotels are most expensive mid-Sep to mid-Dec, especially at weekends. Will be cheaper Jan, Feb, and from mid July to end Aug.
For me there's never a bad time to visit NYC, but from a weather viewpoint I'd go any time from end of April to early July, bearing in mind that it can rain there anytime. Most attractions are open year-round, though of course some are best enjoyed with the sun on your back.
BA have just started a sale (no doubt Virgin too), so a good time to look at flights.0 -
I like the spring bestPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Just booked next Thanksgiving in NY in the BA sale that started yesterday. Not been since Christmas 2005 so will be great to be back.

I am taking my girlfriend on a surprise trip to New York in March 2015 for her 30th. I've been watching the price of tickets for a few months now and they haven't changed that significantly.
I can get direct flights for £420 each right now. Based on peoples experiences is it likely to get any cheaper if I wait until January or should I snap these up now?0
