Recently booked a trip to New York flying direct with Virgin.
However on further reading my confirmation the flight is confirmed as Virgin Atlantic - operated by DELTA.
How does this work out?
FWIW, I have only ever had a positive experience of flying Delta to New York.0 -
Delta are good . Staff look like they could do you with one finger. Good planes and service though:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I know Mark who posts here is a big fan of the pizza in a box you get just before landing on Delta. I agree that it is great and was disappointed not to receive this when I flew with them last September. I hope this was a one off and not a permanent change!0 -
Can anyone please tell me if there is easy access to ATM's to use the FairFX prepaid card. Thinking of getting one this time for my daughter. She will be staying at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.0

If your staying at the Marquis then according to the ATM finder app its a 2 hour taxi drive to a small ATM inside a village hall that is also used as a hospital on a Tuesday.Come on this isn't some Indian Suburb or South American mountain range its New York City . The middle of New York City and Times Square is the middle of the middle of the middle of Its the centre of globalization and modern America. There really is easy access to ATMs and Fairfax cards can be used. Sorry for being to the point:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Hmmm. I was asking about a particular card. You may call it to the point, I call it sarcasm. It was a genuine question. No need for it!0 -

I have used a Caxton FX card without any problems to withdraw cash at atm's so no reason why Fairfx should be any different.
Last time I was in NY I found that TD Bank didn't impose an atm charge whereas Chase wanted $2 for doing so. There are quite a few TD branches in Manhattan.0 -

Many thanks. I was not sure if that particular card could be used in the majority of ATM's never having used one before. I will go ahead and get one for her.0 -
Hi all, I've been half following this thread but with 300+ pages I haven't read it all.
Now here is where I'm about to sound stupid. I have never gone abroad before, (well, I went by Eurostar to Disneyland Paris last year but that's it), so I'm unsure of how this all works.
My partner and I are saving up to go to NY January 2016, with the intention of booking it in January 2015. We are budgeting £1300 for flights and accommodation although we know we can do it cheaper, just want to be on the safe side when it comes to booking.
Ok, so...money...
Is it best to take cash there or take out a credit card? Or even take my existing debit card?
Also, when I have been doing my searches on hotels, it often says city tax isn't included? Is that something we cough up when we arrive?
The best flight prices we can find are leaving Gatwick 18.30 arriving NY 22.50. But we also don't leave NY until 22.50 on our departure day so that makes up for the lost day. So by the time we get through immigration etc it will be so late, I presume taxi etc runs 24/7 from airport. Or is it just better to pay more money and arrive in the day?
Also their subway; can you buy an unlimited ticket and travel around all day like a tube travelcard? I've searched online but not been able to find much solid information on that.
Sorry for the long post and I bet some of this is probably really stupid to ask0
