Thanks John 259, not sure how I missed that one, she will love it. Funnily enough, we also wanted to go to a wal mart and a target, but they seem to be in short supply in Manhattan, don't suppose you know where they are as well?!
And peaceful waters - we've been to most of those alreadythanks!0 -

I haven't gone into StreetView to check most of those. Some of them in the city might well be "express" convenience stores and not full-size shops, or even unrelated stores using similar names to the actual chains. This WalMart appears to be the genuine thing though:

I'm going to be travelling from JFK into Penn station, google maps tells me my hotel is a 17 min walk away on W 47th St, I was planning on walking it as that seems easier than dragging my suitcase onto the subway but then I wondered if that was actually the easiest option with the busy crowds?0
-
Thats a decent walk to be fair and mostly longer than 17 minutes . (too many distractions) I would say Penn to the rockafeller is about 40/45 mins comfy. Why not cab it . If your doing Penn to W47th esp for the first time then the journey by cab or foot will be easier and memorible sub will be stressfull and clammy . Enjot NYC . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I did think about cab but then I worried about cost of sitting in traffic or the driver deciding to take a longer route to rip me off. Also is there a taxi rank or would I need to hail one?0
-
Head for the Exit onto 8th Avenue and the taxi line will on the corner ........... taxi will go straight up 8th Avenue Remember to have the hotel name and address street and avenue for the driver, maybe on a piece of paper to hand to him/her. If you go over Brooklyn bridge or see 2 ESB's then something fishy is going on !!!

Hi all! Well the time is almost here! Eeeek! My flight leaves tomorrow at 5.30.
Unfortunately my aunt can't collect me from the airport, so I'll be taking a cab from JFK to Manhattan. What is the custom tip amount for cabs?
Thanks in advance!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -

Have you considered the considerably less expensive options?

I'm looking at travelling to New York on or around 4th February 2015.
Flight prices are currently £546 with BA and Virgin.
Do you think prices will get any cheaper, or is it more likely they will only go up?0
