    Question on timings:
We're visiting in July (although my wife doesn't know yet as it's a surprise trip for our anniversary).

I've booked SoL tickets (including crown) for 10am on the 17th. I'd like to book the 9/11 museum for the same day (while we're down that end).

Question is - how long will the SoL visit take? What time should I be looking at booking the museum pass for?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

Just found out I am off to NYC for the first time in two weeks, cannot wait. Most of our accommodation has been sorted for us, and we are staying in Brooklyn, but we have two nights where we are looking to be up in Manhattan and I am looking for some hotel advice please.

We have a budget of about £200 per night (inc taxes etc), although wouldn't mind spending less... Check in Saturday 19th Checkout Monday 21st, for two people.

We have thought we would like to be in walking distance from Times Sq, Central Park that sort of area, but any other advice much appreciated in terms of Subway locations etc. We will just be doing tourist things.

    Hope someone can help,
    Thanks

That's Easter weekend. I would imagine everywhere will be pretty busy.

Depends what you call walking distance as they're not really that close to each other, although these things are relative.
It's definitely walkable (maybe 20 mins from TS to the nearest entrance of the park), but it can take an hour or more to walk from one end of the park to the other, depending how fast you walk.
To be between the two, address wise, you're looking between 47th and 59th streets with 5th-9th Ave being *most* central

    Hi,

I am travelling over for the first time soon, and wanted to take a Caxton FX card for my dollars.

I know that there is no fee to load this card, no fee for a POS transaction international, and there is no fee involved by Caxton for an ATM transaction, however the ATM may charge.

From what I have read on here I thought the TD bank offers free withdrawals, but after reading this article this doesn't seem to be true.

Can someone confirm for me please.

I have used TD ATMs for free in the past, most recently in September 2013. I was using a Metro Bank debit card, I have no experience and cannot comment on cards issued by other banks.

We booked the first boat to do SoL, which only took about an hour (crown wasn't open then) then went on to Ellis Island, which took alot longer as we did the audio tour anf had lunch there.

We booked the 9/11 Memorial for 4pm, which worked out about right for us.

  • We are going in October and my 15 year old daughter would love to visit a big shopping mall. I've looked at the queens centre, which looks perfect, but is there anything like that in Manhattan or will we have to take a bus further out?
