I knocked up that table when waiting for a bus and never said it was comprehensive. It isn't.
Thank you for finally conceding that. You jumped all over me when I suggested that previously, and claimed youd covered all plans from all major providers.Legal team on standby0 -

I'll still jump on you as you've still not given proof.
You said it wasn't comprehensive, I never said it was.
You said its only a poor selection, I stated that all my info I've posted is publicly available.
Your super secret plan is good for you, then so be it, but there is better to be had.
Anyway, back to talking about NYC rather than mobile phone plans.0 -

No, but you jumped all over me as soon as I highlighted the gap, and immediately contradicted that something didn't exist which I could see right infront of me. You presumably can't see it because you aren't logged in as a customer - hardly super secret.
You seem to have issues with someone pointing out a minor error you made, would could benefit the users of this forum. That's not exactly in the spirit of this forum - is it?Legal team on standby0 -
As expected Smyth contacted Hotels4U and it turns out they do not have permission to advertise their rooms and they are taking action against them. They have asked if anyone sees them advertising their rooms through them in the future to please let them know.
So it looks like it is now going to be out of our price range unfortunately. If we stayed in the 1st week of April we can get the room for £668 excluding taxes and fees. Does anyone know how much taxes and fees are?
Affinia Dumont was our second choice. Through Expedia we can get the entire package for the two of us for just over £1500.0 -

Do you know how much fees are?
Smyth have kindly offered us a complimentary upgrade for the inconvenience. So we would be paying about £777 (after a guesstimate of fees added) including a free upgrade. Do you think that's worth it?
Or would the Dumont be more value for money?0 -

Hi I think you should email them and they will confirm the prices for taxes and fees on the room before the upgrade.
I think if I had to choose (I have never stayed at the Smyth before though) I would go for the Smyth - ask if you could also have a room with a nice view.
The Dumont is very nice but not luxurious as it seems the Smyth is.
It also depends what you are looking for in a hotel really. Location wise Smyth probably better in terms of bars etc but also still an excellent price as usually a queen room for those dates comes in at £1100
What is the total for the Smyth including flights based on your estimate each?
Edit - So nice of them to offer the upgrade as well.0 -

I think tax can be in the region of: 14.75 per cent. Please note the hotel charges an additional room tax of $3.50 per room per night on check-out.
I looked on the Mr & Mrs Smith website: http://www.mrandmrssmith.com/luxury-hotels/smyth-tribeca0 -

15% is what you need to add for taxes and other bits and bobs. the Smyth is a luxury boutique hotel where the Affinia Dumont is what I'd call a tourist class hotel.
There is a difference in areas.
The Smyth is in Tribeca, walking distance to places like Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Memorial, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, it gets narrower when you get to the southern tip, which is why it's easier to walk around these southern areas. Also, you have great public transportation.
Right outside the Smyth you have the 1,2,3 trains, a block away the A and C trains, and a further block away there is City Hall and the R, then you have the 6, and the J and Z. Such a plethora of great subway links, then tie in walking distance to nice bars, restaurants, it is a wonderful area.
With the upgrade, you're probably guaranteed a street view, rather than an internal view, which I know is important to you so, that's a plus too.
Affina Dumont is East Midtown, there is quite a lot of corporate buildings, more hotels, and only really the 6 train within walking distance from the hotel, and a bit further away, Grand Central. Probably just as easy to get around the East of Manhattan, but getting across to the West side, means a bit of a round trip.
It's a tough call. Do you think you'll return to NYC soon after, and be able to afford a better hotel next time, do you want this trip to be amazing, and give you a great location to explore the whole of Manhattan.
I know where I'd choose, and that's the Smyth, because of location, and the quality of the hotel. The Affinia Dumont, just isn't small enough for my tastes, I prefer small hotels, where you see the same faces working each time you wander in and out over a week, and where they know you by name after a few drinks at the bar. But that's me, and that's what I want.... The decision is yours. Best of luck in choosing.

Smyth all in is £1700
Affinia all in WITH a suite is £1500 (£1400) without.
We really love the Smyth but we just can't justify it and is way over the budget we have set (and that was a generous budget). I have emailed the Smyth to say we really appreciate their offer, but it is out of our price range, however if they can do us a deal for nearer £1500 (and maybe forgo the upgrade) then we'd be willing to pay a bit more as Smyth is our first choice.
I doubt they will be able to do it and I don't blame them, they have been generous enough already, but no harm asking, right?
If not then, we'll go with the Affinia. It is rated a lot higher than the Smyth and it seems very nice still, so it's not like we would be taking a massive downgrade if we changed to the Dumont.0
