    Thanks M4RKM for that info.

Also, reservation is confirmed at a lodge "The International Cozy Inn"-so massive weight of my shoulders and they were lovely to speak to on the phone.

They may be lovely to speak to on the phone, they want your business. However, this is definitely illegal.

http://m4rk.in/17RlEZK - here is a complaint stating illegal hotel rooms in an apartment building.

The Certificate of Occupancy states it is a walk up apartment building, not a hotel.

    Oh well.

  • M4RK this was from my previous post, any advice would be great!

    LIC
If we stay in LIC we would ideally like a view to make up for not being Manhattan, I have seen that Z hotel, Holiday Inn etc all offer this option. The only concern I have with the area is the time to get to subway? although a few of the hotels I have seen offer a shuttle service.

Holiday Inn LIC £958 free canx
Comfort Inn LIC £804 free canx
Sleep In LIC £663 free canx
    Z hotel LIC £1290
Country Inn & Suites £986 free canx

    BROOKLYN
I've been recommended to stay in Brooklyn time and time again, I'm open to this as long as its relatively easy to get into Manhattan as the majority of what we are seeing is there.

    Holiday Inn Brooklyn £1036
Best Western Plus Prospect Park £722 free canx

    MANHATTAN
Would choose to stay here if money no object but a 20 min ride into doesn't bother me. Can't find much in our price range which isn't surprising but here we are:

    Wyndham Garden China Town £1253
    Tribeca Blue £1143 free canx
Comfort inn Manhatten Bridge £1119 free canx
    DAys Hotel Broadway £1135
Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca £1151 (also gives option of standard or loft room?)

Any ones help on these or at least cutting the options down will help or any other suggestions would be great.

    Hmmm, interesting.
    GC Challenge 2018:
    Jan £309.44/£290.72
    Feb £204.81/£290
    March £153.60/£300
  • All sorted :)

We have made some phone calls and believe them to be genuine. The people who run this place are fed up of bing compared to airbnb and have said often people come to them last minute because their airbnb booking was false.

I think it's up to each individual travelling and I we are happy with the reservations as they stand currently.

Could you guys recommend any nice places to eat on Thanks Giving I am aware places my be closed.

Oh and any tips on watching the Macy's parade, apart from get there early.

Many thanks, I'm sure there will be more (sorry)

    Ah sounds fabulous!

I quite liked the view.. went 5 years ago so I am sure it has changed. I preferred the cocktails and desserts. Maybe go for a few cocktails if you don't fancy doing dinner.

No. A certificate of occupancy in NYC proves what is allowed in that building. There is no comparison to airbnb here.

An illegal hotel is based on facts. Regardless what the proprietors say, they will want to portray being genuine.

No proper hotel needs a security deposit. What would happen when the city close them down? Do they have proper fire protection as they are running a hotel.

They are not a hotel. You're foolish (IMO) to keep your booking.

Have a look on Ba.com - They have a sale on at the moment!!! :)

Looks like you have slightly better prices at 800 mark for 3 nights instead of 4..

Some examples per person for 3 nights:

    Hilton by Doubletree £759
    Carlton on Madison £781
    Intercontinental NY Barclay £796
    The Roger £839
Gansevoort Park £897 - Sorry had to add this one its my favourite ha ha

Have a look - Change the flight times to maximise your stay. Ideally leave at 0830 to get to NYC 11.00 - At hotel by 1230/1300 then leave late on your last day (we normally leave at 1930 - arrive back in London at 0700)7

Edit - I love staying near Empire State Building. Murray Hill area. Personal preference, between 34 and 29 streets (or below)

    Thank you for the info!

Is it best to book hotels and flights separately? Or at the same time? I've only ever booked things together..

Looking on the BA website it does seem like they have some good options! I'll speak to hubby about it tomorrow as he is the one paying for the trip! An awesome Christmas/graduation present (I went back to uni to do a post grad course, I qualify in Dec).

He said he'd pay for it as a present so long as I found the trip. Lol. He hates looking for holidays and flights and stuff online.
