You'll be lucky to find any tickets for Book of Mormon less than two months out, never mind at a discount - apparently it's been selling out months in advance since it opened.
The official site for tickets shows a few premium seats left for your dates but they're $300+ each

I've never prebooked a hotel before and I was just wondering a few things. Are you able to book multiple hotels on the same website? Do they definitely not charge you until you get to the hotel and for cancelling hotels that you don't want anymore? And finally, are you able to pay off the hotel before arriving if you decide to do so?0

Stayaway from Times Square - the subway, for a week ticket is dirt cheap and very effective. You'll find a much more authentic stay away from TS.
Thanks for this advice, still swithering though so it's probably going to have to wait until December to book but I'll keep looking once a week in the mean time...0 -

You can book multiple hotels on the same website.
You need to check the terms of the price you agree to, each hotel/offer has different cancellation policies.
Paying off before you get there, no, usually not - but you could get a prepaid currency card and load that up with the required amount if your budgetary control isn't all there...0 -
Manhattan is probably best for a first time stay, Times Square is where all the tourists flock, and it's busy, but also expensive. I'd start looking at hotels now, and see if there is anything you can pay on checkout. I don't think you'll see many pre-paid deals just yet. It's a little early. You could look at Long Island City, if your budget isn't big enough for Manhattan.M
Thanks for this info - my budget is around £100 a night but up to £900 for the week if the right hotel or location pops up. I can get ther New Yorker hotel for around £900 with LowCostUSA which seems a decent deal ! So we'll see....0 -

Keep an eye on Travelzoo for the weekly offers, check the UK and US version for hotels - you can also go for priceline.com offers (betterbidding.com is the place to research if the idea interests you).
If money is an factor you don't need to stay in TS, you would pay more for lot of what you do when there, its simply not cheap.
Hotels in NYC on Manhattan are generally pretty small affairs, and you spend very little of your time in them to be honest - IHG group hotels, holiday inn etc can be quite cheap if booked well in advance.
The other thing to keep an eye on is new hotels opening, they tend to have plenty of opening offers to tempt you in.
I am STILL to this day kicking myself for not booking the Distrikt hotel the month it opened for something stupid like $100 a bucks including tax.
On that note, pay attention to tax, its a significant amount to ensure is included in the prices you see/pay if paying this side of the pond on a hotel aggregation site.0 -
Would anyone recommend the Statue of Liberty crown tours? Is, so, where is the best place to buy the tickets in advance?0
