I have added Blue Smoke as well to my list of great Steak recs!

My ex loves steak and she claims that blue smoke was the 2nd best steak she ever had, the top being a place just off venice beach in L.A

I still haven't booked my hotel and I am going the first week in November but I am glad i didnt as the prices have come down. However, they seem to have stuck at the current prices so I am booking tomorrow on my day off work, still going to go for one I can cancel though just in case. I will post on here to see what you all think :)

I really want to get a show booked but I've seen Lion King and don't really fancy Wicked. Any one any suggestions?

Mark - just looked at the Country Inn & suites that you recommended a while ago but the prices seem to have dropped substantially on that one! Very tempted especially if close to subway :)

dont forget there is a potential for a healthy bit of cash back through sites like topcashback and quidco if you are booking through expedia etc

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any suggestions for where to have a traditional Christmas lunch/dinner (on Christmas Day!)? Budget around $50-$100 per person. All suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks!

Hey everyone, it's been such a long time since I've been on here! I'm looking for some help with a trip to New York. I'm going on the 28th Nov - 5th December and am looking for a hotel. Everything I'm finding seems to be really expensive. I went last year for 4 days over thanksgiving and paid a decent price for a hotel, around 400 I think. All I'm finding now is around 1200+ for even a cheap hotel in a good location. By location I would like to be in walking distance to Times Square and fifth avenue. Do hotels do offers closer to the time, like Las Vegas does, or am I better booking sooner rather than later as far as NYC is concerned? I stupidly paid 479 for my flight to find it dropped £100 the next day after I'd been watching it for so long (in incognito so they wouldn't see that I was), so I don't want it to happen with my hotel! Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the IHG group and the Friends and Family Discount. You should be able to get something as their brands are across the budgets from Holiday Inn to Intercontinental.

A quick google should give you the link.

Anyone have experience of The Sanctuary Hotel near Times Square? It's on Groupon.com getaways at the moment and we could get 4 nights in November for £800ish inc taxes. Have looked on the hotel's website and the discount on normal rate isn't massive, but it looks like a nice hotel. Tripadvisor reviews are all very positive.

    Can we do 'better' though?

do you want individual prices for each of the 30 days in November?

No, I meant can we get a better hotel for that sort of price. And I put 'better' because I guess different people will have different priorities and criteria for something being better than something else.

We're going to be in NYC for Mon 11th - Fri 15th Nov.

We are first timers going for a week next March Sunday 9th to Sunday 16th - this also covers the St Patricks weekend celebrations and the flights are now booked and paid for !.

Would I be better waiting for hotel prices to come down or as it covers the St Patricks weekend is that unlikely ? Ideally I dont want to book until mid December as we prefer paying up front before we go....

Lastly as first timers should we looking at Manhatton central/times square or use the Metro and stay elsewhere within 15-20 minutes ? Thanks !
