I've never used Ticketsnow. I tend to use Stubhub for tickets to sports events in the USA.
I've used them and done the print ticket and present it at the stadium to a few events.0 -
(1) Is it worth getting a prepaid money card eg, the Thomas Cook Cash Passport or just take dollars?
(2) Looking for sporting events/concerts the week commencing 20th June.
(3) Need to take a credit card for the hotel deposit, what is the best credit card to get?
(4) Can anyone suggest any unusual things to do anywhere in NY?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.0 -
Any reccomendations for good comedy clubs? I think we're gonna look into going to The Upright Citizens Parade but are there any others I can check out?:heart2:0

For a decent comedy club, I'd reccomend Dangerfields. It's great but most comedy clubs do have a certain amount of minimum drinks which you must buy whilst in there! Just to make you aware, I got stung for it!0 -

I think they do tours for those who are interested.
We (a couple in our 40's) did the tour in early October '12. It's not for everyone and perhaps not something you'd want to include on your 1st 3 day trip to NYC.....but we certainly got something out of it. I would imagine it's good for some children of a school age - there were some teenagers there who seemed to be really engaged in what the tour guide was talking about.
From what I recall we turned up at around 9.30am, without having pre-booked. There is some security to go through and then we waited and got on a tour at around 10.10am. You can't wander around yourself - you need to get on one of the tours. Think it's around $15 for 1 adult
The building itself is dated and could do with some restoration.....but it's a building with a purpose, an organisation with a budget - it's not a tourist attraction
If there are no meetings going on you get to see the General Assembly Hall and Security Council Chamber. The tour guide talks about what the UN is and does, what goes on in those rooms and there's a chance to ask Q's
You are then are walked and talked through some smallish displays on Landmines, 1945 Atomic Bombs, Holocaust then there are some gifts from it's members on display. You then go down a short corridor where they talk about the declaration of Human Rights.
All in all I think it took 40 mins and there isn't a huge amount to see - it's a working building rather than a museum.
Great bookshop in basement. It also has it's own Post Office - so you can send a postcard with the UN frank on it.
We liked it because it seems to be in complete contrast to anything else you might do in NYC.
As a result of that tour, my partner 'bought me' this for xmas

Hey guys,
Before I ask, just wanted to say this forum is great; found a lot of great stuff on here for my trip.
I've not seen it yet on the forum (I may be blind) but I'm in NYC for 2 weeks at the end of March into April and we fancied a jazz night type thing (when in Rom eh?) and wondered if anyone knows a real classic jazz bar that we can wander into one night or even one we can book?0 -

Dunno if you've heard of this brilliant voluntary organisation but I was lucky enough to meet a greeter, on my last visit & she opened up NYC for us! The company do match you to a greeter who share the same interests as you & is COMPLETELY free to use. Take a look at their website & request one early as poss! Enjoy! The website is just big apple greeters....all lower case and a "dot com" ....Sorry I've had to actually spell it out for you but apparently, I can't post a link!0 -
Thanks Xpietina, I'll have a look into that0
