I thought expedia was just a vessel ,a web site that brings together different services (flight, hotel etc) but books them seperatly hence it isnt a package and doent have the same cover as a "package"mind i watched a programe recently and even a package isnt a package but can be called one so i suppose its beware and check the small print about what you THINK your getting. enjoy nyc:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Any tips on NYC hotels appreciated. Booked flights for Thur 8th Nov, and return Tues 13th Nov (ie 5 nights). Two people.
Interested in Times Square area - most decent hotels coming in at about £1000 to £1200 using all the usual search engines. Happy to pay that, but any neat tips appreciated.Legal team on standby0 -
Hi, I'm off to NY next week for 5 days. A quick question how much approx. is a taxi from JFK to Tribeca? can I just pick one up at the airport? How long is the journey? Also has anyone done the bus to woodbury common outlet if so where is the best place to get tickets and should I do this before leaving the uK? thanks in advance0

You can get a bus out to Woodbury Common from the bus station - its relatively easily found but I would honestly give it a miss. The outlets aren't that great, it's a dull journey out there and you'll find much better bargains in NYC.
Check out Century 21, Daffy's and Filene's Basement - just make sure you have plenty of room to bring everything home!“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

I looked at other suite hotels but were more expensive. Plus I book flight + hotel together through Expedia as always find it to be cheaper, and prefer having a package just incase.
Of course you will find them more expensive, because it is only August, and you're booking for February. Deals for Feb will probably only appear around late November, and you can get amazing bargains.
I once got (in March, which is more expensive than Feb), a huge high floor room, shower, separate soaking tub, sofa, living area, tempur mattress bed, in a luxury hotel for less than $200 a night.
Too late now, because packages are never changeable or cancellable, unlike hotels on their own...0 -

Wow Mark what hotel and did you book directly?
I'm still looking for a "bargain" stay at the Setai or maybe go back to the Gansevoort again.
My most NYC trips have been last minute jobs. (December 11 booked 5 weeks before) had a great deal on a package.
Most recent booked 10 days in advance and sadly no deals for what I wanted (wanted a kitchen/separate living space) booked flight and hotel separate.
my requirements for every trip vary. Plus am limited in that I really like Murray Hill area.
Oh btw anyone stayed at the Andaz 5th Avenue or Setai on here?
Purplepow - If the price suited you then don't worry i'm sure you will have more trips (i'm planning my 5th) then you can experiment with hotel bookings etc.. I would love to book via priceline, but havent got the guts! ha ha0 -

This is my 3rd trip but I've never done flight + hotel seperately before! I have tried, but always found it more expensiveMaybe other people are more lucky than me! But I'm happy with the price I paid anyway.

Ah sorry didnt realise your 3rd trip. I have done separate twice. And am now more confident in booking closer to the time rather than 12 months in advance for the 1st trip ha ha.
It all depends where you want to stay too so many hotel choices its amazing.
Enjoy planning your trip!0
