Thanks for all the advice....just a few more questions...

Are nyc.com and broadwaybox.com reputable sites to buy tickets from ?.....I have a very cautious hubby about buying things online and I need to convince him !!! Thanks
  • Hoping someone can point us in the right direction. Have tried to read through all this but it is so huge...

My husband and I are at the planning stage. Not travelling till next May. We were looking at an escorted tour of Washington, New York and Niagara Falls but it involved so much travelling that we have decided to just do NYC.

Probably 5 or 6 nights. The flights (from Manchester) that we have found are averaging about £450-£470 and hotels we have found = Hotel St James 5 nights is £773, Distrikt is £937 and the one where my son and his girlfriend stayed and highly recommend = Hilton Garden Inn Times Sq. is £1090.

My question is, who should we book through ? Also will we manage to get from the airport (Newark) to the hotel easily ? That was one reason we fancied the escorted tours, so that we could just follow the guy with the umbrella.....How much should we budget for food ?

    Any help welcome thank you.

Flights booked for last weekend in October :T:T Thurs - Tues
(Tickets bought for Miami Dolphins vs NY Jets :( But hey - only 5 hours out of a whole weekend ,,)

I've been before (1999), OH is an NY virgin. Any suggestions on where to stay? Priceline? hot-wire? direct? We're not shoppers but want to be in the "buzz". Like a bit of luxury, but at budget prices (doesn't everyone!)

    Hi there
Just looking for a bit of advice.
    <snip>

Until tomorrow the 'new york pass' is $140 each on special offer. Would this be the cheapest option or would I be better just paying individually? I am aware of the 'pay what you want' at the Met and History museums but I have read a couple of things online on various websites saying the admissions people really pressure you to make the full recommended donation. Is this other people's experience?

    Many thanks in advance!

We (family of 4) have planned a bit of a route march for 3 days next week using this card....including a couple of ferry things for a rest (booked already - something's you book a week in advance)

*IF* we manage it all, we will have got about $1600 worth for under $600....so even if we dip out of a couple of things, I still see it as a bargain.....and should get everyone into the timeline with no slacking (can you hear the crack of the whip?!)

Do a simple spreadsheet with the list you have, put entry fees in and see!

    Can't wait now!!
    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!

What is your budget. My budget prices might be totally different to yours. Be realistic too. You really are not going to get anything of a luxury if you're not willing to spend money.

the above price is £482 with e-bookers
  • I'm looking to take my boyfriend to New York for his 30th Birthday, flying out from London on Saturday 13th October, and return Wednesday 17th October.
I'm not having to pay out for accomodation, so it's only flights that I need. So far the best price I can find in £474 with Delta or KLM. Is this price likely to drop the later I leave it to book? Or does anyone know anywhere I can find the flights cheaper?
    Thanks!

I looked at the flight, and thought under £500 in my head. Then I saw that price, and nodded.. It ain't bad at all, just make sure you have your passport ready to get into Newcastle from Sunderland eh?
