    Hiya guys :)

I'm heading to NYC on Thursday (woohoo!) and looking for things to do after seeing a show on Friday night - say 11pm-ish. Any recommendations? Perhaps a decent cocktail bar in the midtown area?

Found an offer on Goldstar for cheapish tickets ($13) to BB King's Blues Club to see some live southern music so that's a possibility. Anyone been before?

BB kings is always a good night out they often have a tribute act and a open mike or jam night on together , some stunning singers and guitarists/musicians . Just poke around and see what you fancy heres a decent site listing a few gigs . http://www.bowerypresents.com/see-all-shows/ all shows at the bowery etc . What we have hear normally tribute acts and karaoke bars are a damp squid . NYC often bars are far more with it than our local boozers

    Hi all,

Fantastic thread - so pleased I found this.
We're off to NY for 5 days in March. Can anybody advise whether it's better to book hotel now, or wait to see if prices come down nearer the date?

    Many thanks!

impossible to answer . If you see a hotel you fancy bookit now . If it goes up smile and down frown. If every one waited until last minute it will go up. March isnt busy in NYC so if your not fussy where you stay wait until January and see what hits you . Or wait until March and see what is on offer. Good luck and enjoy NYC

If you book now, just make sure you can cancel without any hassle or loss of money. Because if the price goes down between now and March you can cancel and re book at the cheaper rate or cancel and book another hotel !
My wife does this all the time and has saved a packet load of cash......... But then spends it all shopping !!!!!!!!!

Lufthansa do not fly direct from Heathrow, so it is definitely a code share with United. You are NOT flying Lufthansa, they're just issuing the ticket. United are the collaboration of Continental and United.

The flight on the way back is awful, as you spend a night in NYC, and get no benefit with having to get to the airport at stupid o'clock in the morning. Normally flights back to the UK are in the night.

Additionally, the week before christmas is when hotel prices drop and is reasonably cheap. It is better than the first weeks in december where hotels are horrendously expensive.
