Never been to see the SI Yankees, but we have been to see both the Mets and NY a few years ago. Checkout Stubhub for tickets if they have a home game when you are there. But the SI Ferry would be good views of the city and statue at night. Never been on the ferry late at night ...... but you should be ok !
We have just returned from Chicago where we went to see the Cubs vs the Mets. The Cubs lost 17-1 which is the highest score we have ever seen !!! And yes it was still very American and so much different to anything here in the UK. We love the way they pass the soda's etc along the row and the person buying passes the money back and if there is change back it goes back to the person buying. But then the tip goes back to the seller ........ Crazy !

Hi
I am off to NYC, 2 weeks today! For 2 weeks
Just wondering if visiting Washington whilst we are there is doable in a day and if so, is there a cheaper train service than Amtrak to get there? had a look at the buses which are soooo cheap but take quite and few hours.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!Mummy to the most amazing and clever little girl x0 -
Hello Twinkle
DC is very spread out so it could involve alot of walking or you could jump on a trolley bus tour with a bag of boiled sweets !
Not sure but if the train takes you to Union station which is by the Capital building you could walk the Mall viewing the war memorials Whitehouse etc.
Have a look on Google earth to see what you think ........ But it would be a long day. Best of luck.

If you want to visit DC, could you spend a couple of days and have an overnight stay? Would probably make the journey more worthwhile.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I'm off to NY next month with my family (3 kids), flying into Newark with United, arriving 1pm on a Sunday. I plan to book a minibus transfer from the airport to the hotel in Manhattan (Soho), but need to know how much time to allow for immigration so I can give the company an accurate pick-up time. Can anyone give an approximate wait time for UK passport holders on a visa waiver (with up to date ESTA etc)?
Many thanks0 -

Minibus? I'm hoping you mean a private transfer, and not a group shuttle service. Shuttles are unreliable, slow, and just don't work in New York. Book a Private Car (dial7 or carmel), or use public transportation.
1 hour for immigration regardless what passport you hold. It could be more, it could be less, but always factor in around an hour.

Thanks for the info on immigration times (and all the other great stuff you've posted on here).0 -
Yes, I mean a private transfer in a vehicle large enough to take five with luggage, so an MPV 7 seater, ideally. I have had a very reasonable quote from Carmel so I'll almost certainly book with them.

Make sure you get their coupons from the front page, and TICK THE BOX during the online process. It gives you a 3 digit number you need to write on the coupon. That'll save a few $$0
