Hi hoping to travel 30th November but could travel a week either side.
New Yoker is coming in at £851 on Expedia with Virgin flights and the Affinia Dumont at £806. I think Mum will want to book earlier rather than later but she may be open to persuasion if you think there will be better deals to be had:)
better deals not guaranteed , just my experience or maybe I got lucky... If it happens again its true lol
I have had a look for you. Check out the B.A. Website you can get the new yorker 3* for £773 I done a search for 3 sharing a room. 30th to 4th Dec These have brill flight times leaving early 0830 and returning 1930 but there are later options.
double tree Hilton 4* £806 Check reviews
there are quite a few on there so if you had time to check review's and compare
deals, I'm sure you will find something lovely. Just to point out if you wanted to pre select seats on plane B.A. for charge for advance booking or you can book for free at online check in.. From what I remember virgin let you book for free? With
the seat booking it would work out £823 per person
I'm getting excited again ha ha !!0 -
Just booked to go to NYC at the end of Aug. First Timer, finally after 36yrs I have decided to just do it ;-).
Leaving Belfast - Newark in Aug £1287 Expedia Flights
Staying Wellington Hotel £625 5 nights Expedia
ps its always more expensive from here in Ireland LOL
Ok good people, I know I really should jjust read here, but like 220 pages damn thats gonna tak a while hahahaha, I have been wanting to go for years so will want to see and do as many things as possible in 5 days, what are the must see's and what generally was a let down and maybe should be avoided.
And off course in typical MSE stylee the best buys to save on moving around, entrance fees etc etc :T :T Premium Bond Saver :T :T

I'm not going to comment on the hotel, as I don't really do midtown, as it's just, well, corporate and a bit meh!
What are the must sees? Well, depends on you as a person. Have you read through a guidebook and what they recommend? Have you got a list of what you want to see or have you got blank canvas. Without doing a bit of research yourself, it is a tough question to tell you what to go and visit.
What are the best buys for getting around? Well I know that this thread is 220 pages long, but the first page gives you all that information. Getting into and around Manhattan - The answer is $29 MetroCard for a week. All Subways and Buses. Taxis are expensive.0 -
Wellington is sold to death on expedia/lastminute websites . Never stayed there but looked at it as it shows up first and pprices are good. Its a bed in a decent location . Rooms are average for the price. Within walking distance for Central park/5th Ave /Grand central/times square/subways for other places NYC & Beyond . Price is good but depends what you want. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

We stayed in The Westin a few years back it attached to the E Walks complex cinema etc with Shulas steakhouse below & gym above . On 42nd & 8th.great hotel great views:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Craft Beer is big in New York, and you can get great beer in many bars if you know where you're going. However, as you're asking for "real ale" I can only assume you mean warm, 4% bitters, served on cask, rather than exciting 6 - 10% beers, IPAs, Stouts, Porters, Saisons, Single Hopped Beers, Barley Wine Beers, the list goes on.
If it is the former, than you will be disappointed, Cask beer is really a UK only thing. You say you're from the North East, get into Newcastle, and head down to BrewDog, and start learning about the Craft Beer Revolution, rather than Real Ale. CAMRGB is also a good site to read through (more so than CAMRA).

sorry flight budget 900.
I tried to price up as package just to see what's out there. If you have seen cheapish flights and looking to book soon then I agree with Greendale.. If you don't mind waiting then see my other posts re booking later (as a package) its also depends how flexible you are with your dates too.
you could stay at the gansevoort park avenue for £992 which is very nice. There are so many hotels to choose from though. What are you looking from a hotel? Location? Amenities?0
