Do you go to NY often?

There isn't such a thing as too often is there? The past few years, I've been going twice a year. I had to relinquish one of my trips and invest in myself this March, mainly because I relocated from Yorkshire to London for a new job. One of the best decisions I've ever made. It is only now, in May, that I'm itching for a decent holiday, and I'm planning Bank Holiday Weekend in August to be in Boston / /New York.

Then we'll see what has happens.. I'll again probably only do 1 holiday, as I want to move to my own apartment in London, rather than shared house (some people just are not up to my standard of cleanliness)

Hoping to got to New York November/December this year to celebrate my 40th and my Mum's 60th. There will be three of us me, Mum and her best friend travelling from LHR, staying four nights. I have read through a lot of posts and am overwhelmed by the amount of info:o We have a hotel & flight budget of £800-900 each, I would appreciate some advice on the best time to book flights would be and any safe, clean and comfortable hotels within our budget.
Also does anyone know whether the Nutcracker ballet is on every year, the website for NY ballet company still has last years info on the website.
Does anyone know where the Christmas markets are in New York and when they start? We have been to several European ones and would love to see what America has to offer:)
    Thanks

You've got time to research the best CC for overseas spending, take a look at this section of the main site. That way you won't be hit with unexpected charges.

I have taken out the Halifax card that was recommend on here. Was possibly looking at getting a fairfx card but don't want to be left with money on or having to spend on it just to use it as unsure when we'll need dollars again.

You must have at least 4 weeks' worth, with the BHs on top. If you have to work the BHs then it would be 5.6 weeks' worth.

I say that with some authority, because it's the legal minimum ...

I get 23 days holiday allowance. I have to save 3 days for Christmas, giving me 20 days, plus all the bank holidays off. (I sold out to the man for a reason)

So, 20 days, is exactly 4 weeks. If I do 6 nights in NYC just as a trip, I normally fly out Thursday, so back on Wednesday, landing back in the UK On the Thursday, and not returning to work til Monday, that takes up 7 days of my holiday allowance.

    hi
what dates are you thinking of?

I have done the following booked 12 months in advance, booked 3 months and booked 5 weeks!

I personally prefer the 5 week option or as close to as possible, it was booked as a package and it was a good deal as in a better * hotel for the money. I understand if you don't want to take the risk
    as I didn't before.

what have you seen so far?

Hi hoping to travel 30th November but could travel a week either side.
New Yoker is coming in at £851 on Expedia with Virgin flights and the Affinia Dumont at £806. I think Mum will want to book earlier rather than later but she may be open to persuasion if you think there will be better deals to be had:)
