The hotel was amazing; it’s under a year old. I believe it opened last June. It’s probably not for everyone because the rooms are small; they're promoted as "cabins" and possibly aimed at a younger audience. The bed has a switch that turns it into a sofa electronically to save space. We had an amazing view, floor to ceiling window on the 27th floor.

Pardon my digression!
We booked through expedia, but I think I could have gotten it a fraction cheaper booking the package myselfWhat's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -
Any dates best to avoid / better time to visit New York in October / November? Never been there, so will be doing touristy things as well as a wee bit of shopping. Have enough points to fly in from LHR (Virgin - just add taxes apparently. Hopefully, giving 6 - 7 months is long enough to getting two of these seats). Thanks.0

New York Marathon is 4th Nov so unless you're running or really want to see it I'd avoid that weekend as hotel prices rocket
IMHO mid Oct is a good time
Virgin award seats to NYC are usually easy to come by-even UC onesthough the taxes are ridiculous!

Ha I can understand that, it did have a mixed clientele though. On weekends part of the hotel becomes a club and it was really busy so yeah it’s not for all.
I'm 28 and the OH is 30 and we thought it was brilliant, one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in.What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...0 -

I am planning to take my family to New York next March for my Mother's 50th Birthday, and have been looking up package deals on expedia.co.uk
The prices a week or so ago seemed to indicate we could get a decent hotel and flights for around £650 per person but now the prices seem to be rising.
Is it best to book as soon as possible or do you think it's worth waiting until nearer the time in the hope of getting a better deal? Obviously I'll be gutted if we can't get a good deal nearer the time and don't want to miss out on what will be the trip my Mum's always wanted.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
We visited New York from the 9th - 16th March this year, I booked in December 2011 when some of the Airlines had a sale on. I used Expedia and flew with Virgin from LHR, we stayed in the Broadway Plaza Hotel situated at 1155 Broadway - very near the Metro at 28th Street. Whilst the area around the Hotel is not the best the Hotel is very good, very large rooms with 2 queen beds plus they have a breakfast service - pastries/bagels etc each morning with tea and coffee 24/7. Cost for 3 of us was £2146 including the flight. TA reviews for the Hotel are good and a lot of people do repeat bookings - my wife and daughter originally stayed at the Hotel in March 2010 and thought it was very good hence booking it again for this year. As other people have advised Hotel prices do vary considerably but March seems to be the right time for deals, as M4RKM said you could leave the booking quite late to take advantage of the flight sales that tend to come up in the latter part of the year.

The Flight Centre are having a sale on tomorrow only from 10am - £279 New York return fare. Not sure about any terms and conditions. Hope that is of use to someone. Can't post links.0

The problem when you stay at a new hotel, is a lot of the time, there are promotional rates, and you think you're getting a bargain. Their normal rates then kick in, and it's around $100 a night more than it was when it first opened.
Now, £279 for a flight to NYC... I'm interested...Thing I've noticed about some of flight centres deals (especially the hotels), is that they're based on "2 people" so when you see £89 for a hotel room, it's actually £178 a night.
Shame I have a meeting at 10am, I can't get out of or I'd be on the phone straight away to check out these cheap flights (not convinced they'll be great flight times or the dates I want though!)0 -
I forgot to say there are 100 tickets available for 279 (includes taxes & fees). First come, first served. Ring this number from 10am today 0844 499 9286
Good luck.0
