Tickets Temporarily Unavailable Please call 1.877.LADY TIX
Yes it was, I think it's just a rubbish website. Anyway, the names on the tickets seemed to be irrelevant so that was fine.
Some random thoughts on our trip:
Ellis Island: Museum is excellent. Cafe is awful - take your own lunch if you can!
TOTR/ESB: We did both, TOTR in daylight and ESB at night. SOOOO glad we purchased the Express tickets for ESB, the queues were massive. I would really recommend not bothering unless you get the express tickets.
Central Park: The rowing boats on the boatlake are a bargain at $12 for an hour and good fun.0 -

We hired a SatNav with the car, it said it was Hertz's on 'NeverLost' system. All I can say is, it lied ...
Glad we didn't go with that one then! (Also it was significantly more expensive). The only time we went wrong was when the satnav fell off the windscreen just at the worst time as I was coming to a junction :rotfl:0 -

We will definitely do this as it looks as if will save a lot of time and it puts us nearer Boston where we're heading after New York although we might pick the car up from White Plains as the Hertz place looks very close to the station.
Didn't know that you can hire US SatNavs before you go - looks a lot cheaper than buying from the rental company ,thanks for the tip0 -

There's quite a few people doing it. I used these guys and would recommend them http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/psalzedo/?_trksid=p4340.l25590 -
How early before a flight do you need to arrive at Newark Airport!?!?
We are probably just going to use the NJ Transit train but looking at airport transfer car services the pickup time window for a flight departing at 8:00pm is 3:30pm from central Manhattan!0 -
Check the airlines own website /tickets details . If your travelling back over the pond i say 3 hrs & if your staying state side going elsewhere 2 hours tops . I sometimes like to get to the airport even earlier and chill out take my time enjoy the start or end of the hols rather than blind panic:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

1) Manchester is the airport you need to look at for flights. Though it is far too early to be booking an NYC Holiday over a year in advance. Maybe start looking around December time, and again in January when the hotel deals will start appearing.
2) Apartment rentals are illegal for under 30 days in NYC. You might want to look at Apartment Style Hotels. The Beacon, Affinia Hotels, Eastgate Tower, Radio City Apartments. This is are the ones that are legal.
Attraction Passes? Mainly a rip off, maybe only one that I'd recommend with a good chunk of research completed - Go Select Pass. Ignore the others, they're just very good marketing.

Hi bare with me just been pointed in the direction of this thread as going to NY & Boston soon and had a query about purchasing New York Passes 7 day for $180 offer finishes tomorrow not sure if it is something we should be doing and think will need to read through the thread which might take longer than tomorrow:eek:.
But now more concerned re above about rentals being illegal for under 30 days  we have booked privately with East Villiage Suites for apt for a week and Bed & Breakfast Associates for Boston 5 days these are used I think for long/short term rentals also, should I be worried we needed a 2 bedroom apartment.0 -
Well i'm so glad i came on this page as i was really warming towards going for an apartment rental for 2 weeks in NY but will steer clear of this.
Me and my hubby want to go to NY for 2 weeks for his 40th in a couple of years. We are not planning on going until 2014 so i now we can't even consider booking anything however we are really struggling with finding a hotel for our budget.
We don't want to spend more than £3k for flights and hotel as i want as much money as possible for spends!
We don't really mind what time of year we got as long as its not too cold (or too hot) and don't want to go over Xmas.
Unfortunately our holiday last year to Vegas spoilt us as we have a high roller friend who got us set up with a suite that had 5 nights free and the other 9 nights half price!
I'm now struggling to get my head round the price of NY hotels. I looked at some on trip advisor that came up as under £150 per night and almost cried - one had a sink in the wardrobe to save space
We are not too fused about location as long as it is near a subway to give us access to everything.
Last time we went was September 2000 and we stayed at the New Yorker which was a great location but felt like being in a box with 2 of 3 windows having a view of a brick wall.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Flights wise we are less than a hour from Manchester.0 -

I've never heard of East Village Suites, so it probably is an illegal apartment rental. You should be worried, unless you like breaking the law.
Laws are different in Boston, and New York City laws won't apply there.0
