Top of the Rock or Empire State Building - which one is best?

as previously mentioned there are discount vouchers for TOTR and eh voila here's one:

    http://www.theatermania.com/extras/TopOfTheRock/

you can use it for 4 people too so you can save $12 in total, just print it off and present it when you buy your tickets.

TOTR and Times Sq are fairly close so do one after the other (Times Sq at night is reasonable well lit up and makes for a better photo opportunity). You could arguably do that on the Sunday and see the show afterwards, freeing up the Friday after Woodbury Common.

My first question would be are your days in chronological order if so going to century 21 and then lugging your shopping over the brooklyn bridge then on to the staten island ferry and then taking it to a restaurant in the evening probably isnt ideal. Another quick point the staten island ferry gets very busy during rush hour so if you are hoping for un-interupted views of sol you may wish to leave it until before or after rush hour.

Woodbury common never been personally but hear nothing but "what a waste of money" it is, its not cheap to get there and its gonna take you a day to do it any justice, there are plenty of bargains to be had in manhattan so personally I wouldnt bother with it, but thats just me.

If you've done TOTR i wouldnt bother with esb, again personally I wouldnt bother with esb anyway as you get a better/cheaper/quieter view up TOTR.

My top tip is go on googlemaps and start yourself a map and pin all of the places you want to visit, this will give you an idea of places you can go to in one area rather than running up and down manhattan

I've heard woodbury common is really expensive? That was off the parcel lady. I can't remember the name of the other one she mentioned but she said it was ok.

I would agree with that, but I would also suggest making sure you have a bit of a gap between places as it affords for a sit down on the bus or subway. I can only get around with lots of rests on the bus.

If it helps you with itinery, I think Centry 21 is open until about 9pm ( was on sunday when I last went). Please double check but im sure it was 9pm.

If you are unsure if/when you will go back again i'd do ESB. Can't go to NY and not go up the Empire State Building imo. I'd do ESB at night, maybe before a meal or after as its open until about 1am. TOTR views are much better so defo do it day.

I have been and wasnt that impressed, prob wouldnt go again but it depends what you shops you like. Nike is there and people were buying lots from there so although its about $40 PP to get there if you know that you will defo be buying lots of items from Nike then I suppose its worth it but time does fly by and it can mean you can be there all day 'looking' and not come away with much.

Like any outlet its hit or miss so its a chance you take.

Juicy couture wasnt very good when I went didnt have many sizes or matching tracksuits, ended up getting one from Bloomingdales in city cheaper.

Jersey Gardens? I've never been but a friend went last time and said it was better (for her) than Woodbury Common. Woodbury Common is good if you're after Tommy Hilfiger - always bargains to be had, or sportswear, trainers etc. But it does cost a bit to get there and unless you're desperate, as previously stated - I wouldn't bother!

Considering the £ against the $ the bargains aren't going to be as good as they were when we were getting $2 to the £1! I'd stay in the city and hunt out the bargains there instead.
